Q&A

From [livejournal.com profile] sholio.

Rules:
Rule 1: always post the rules
Rule 2: answer the questions the person who tagged you asked and make 10 new ones
Rule 3: tag 10 new people and link them
Rule 4: let them know you’ve tagged them

1. You're getting caught up with an old friend you haven't seen in awhile. Go out, or stay in?

- Probably stay in, but if it involves going out to eat, then, well, going out :D I am such a sucker for restaurants since it means being able to eat what you can't make at home.

2. Favorite color?

- Green, with purple coming in a close second. Green always makes me think of grass and trees and summer, while purple manages to be both a fun and gentle color. I'm also occasionally into yellow.

3. Are you allergic to anything?

- Well, thanks to some rather obnoxious health issues I now seem to be lactose intolerant, which ticks me off. I didn't use to be, but I had to take a rather strong antibiotic that screwed up my digestion, giving me yet another infection, which also cleared up but left my digestion a mess. I can still handle cheese and ice cream if I don't eat a lot of it, but straight-up milk is right out, and I loved milk.

4. What's the best gift you ever gave someone?
5. What's the worst gift you ever received?

- Number four and five I'm putting together. The gift I got wasn't the worst gift. Actually it was quite nice - a tablet - but because I didn't have any use for it and mostly found it annoying I gave it to my mom, and she's using it like crazy (in fact she uses it better than me, and computers of any kind usually frustrate her).

6. Your family's most ridiculous or embarrassing tradition

- Well, being a military family and moving around a lot with two cars (back in the day before cell phones) we used to have these CB radios we used to communicate back and forth, but mostly used them to quote our favorite movies and listen in on the truckers. Good times :D (Our favorite to quote was Disney's Robin Hood and Monty Python and the Holy Grail).

7. Favorite dinosaur? (Or if you aren't into dinosaurs, favorite bird?)

Triceratops.

8. A book or movie you'd like to change the ending of

- Parked. Not that it was a bad ending, just depressing as all crap. Plus I think it would have been interesting if *spoiler* in case you haven't seen the movie and want to see it... )

9. A writer or artist you think more people should know about

Michael Parkes, probably my favorite artist. He does these brilliant surreal fantasies like something out of a dream that are full of whimsy. I have this print hanging in my room and love it to bits.

10. A book, movie or TV show you didn't expect to like but actually did

- Wow, there are so many. Definitely Merlin. I had avoided that show for four seasons thinking it would annoy me, then I gave it a chance and fell head over heels for both the show and its characters. I had also misjudged Sleepy Hollow like crazy, thought for sure it would be silly or boring or try too hard to take itself seriously, and it's been nothing but awesome and even funny so far. White Collar is another I completely misjudged, again thinking it would be boring. But it's the shows I tend to misjudge that I end up loving like nothing else *cough*SGA and Andromeda*cough* (while shows I get into from the beginning I end up getting bored with, like Numbers and CSI: New York).

I'm taking a page from [livejournal.com profile] sholio's book and skipping the last two instructions, since I don't really like tagging people. So here are my questions and feel free to answer at your leisure.

1. If you could own any animal - whether it exists, doesn't exist or is extinct - what animal would it be?
2. Is there a fanfic trope you love to read but can never bring yourself to actually write?
3. If you could visit any country, what country would you want to go to and why?
4. What is your guilty pleasure movie (a movie that's just absolutely terrible but you love it, anyway) and why?
5. Is there a character (in a book, movie or show) that you used to despise only to end up adoring?
6. What book or comic book would you love to see made into a movie or TV show?
7. What book or comic book do you not want Hollywood to touch, ever?
8. What is your favorite childhood memory?
9. If you could be best friends with anyone famous, whether alive or from history, who would it be and why?
10. Kind of a sequel to question one - is there a pet you've never owned but always wanted? (including a certain breed of dog or cat.)

Book Meme )
kriadydragon: (Beast)
Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] imbecamiel, who also has a much larger, interesting meme I plan to do but it'll take some time so I'm doing this little one for right now.

Name me a character and I will tell you:

- Why I love them or why I wish they'd go die in a fire.
- My OTP for the character
- My favorite gen relationship with this character.
- An unpopular opinion about this character.
- One thing I wish would [have] happen[ed] with this character in canon.
- An idea I have for the character that I haven't written yet/won't ever write for whatever reason
kriadydragon: (Beast)
Snurched from various people because it looked like fun.

Give me a character and I'll tell you a piece of my personal headcanon.

Any show, movie or book goes if I know it (check my tags to see what I'm familiar with).
kriadydragon: (Monty Python)
Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] sholio because it looks like fun :D

Name a fandom you know (that you think I know too!) and I'll tell you:

1. The first character I first fell in love with
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t
4. The character I love that everyone else hates
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer
6. The character I would totally hug (because smooching is a little too personal).
7. The character I’d want to be like
8. The character I’d slap
9. A pairing that I love
10. A pairing that I despise

To help you out, the things I've written stuff for over the years: SGA, White Collar, CSI: NY, Magnificent 7, Andromeda, Numbers, A Team, Haven, Suits, Dr. Who. This can also include things I haven't written for but do watch, such as The Walking Dead, Criminal Minds and Psych.
kriadydragon: (Default)
Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] tj_teejay. I don't know why I'm doing this since I have enough on my plate as is, so please be kind with your requests.

The first five people to comment on this post get to request that I write a ficlet of any pairing/character of their choosing. In return, they have to post this in their journal, regardless of their ability level.

Fandoms: White Collar, Suits, Dr. Who (10th Doctor. Not quite comfortable writing 11th yet) and I'm also willing to try Haven if it's Nathan related. And I must apologize profusely for not including SGA. I'm a bit SGA'd out at the moment and really need to try and save my energy for that poor, neglected amnesia story.

And gen requests only, please.

Name a character I've written about, and I will tell you three things that I think are essential to keep in mind when writing that character.

I've written for Stargate Atlantis, Thoughtcrimes, white Collar, Magnificent Seven, Dr. Who, CSI:NY.

This is a continuation of the gen comment-a-thon. Things were getting a bit crowded so I decided to spread the comment-a-thon out to cut back on the clutter, so to speak. Part one is still open to answering prompts, and remember, there is no limit to how many times you can answer a prompt.

Rules: You'll be presented with a list of prompts. The challenge, should you choose to accept it...

Readers: Pick a prompt from the list below – only one – and request a story based on that prompt using the following format:

Don't want:

Writers: Pick a request and comment with a story or pick a prompt from the list and comment directly with a story. Posting a story in your own journal or elsewhere is allowed so long as you comment here with the link. Please put the title of your story and/or (should you not have a title yet) rating in the comment header. If you are commenting directly with a prompt of your choosing, please put the prompt at the start of the story (Ex. Prompt: *your prompt here*). Also please warn for anything you feel should be warned for (blood, violence, torture, etc) at the start of the story.

But here is the catch: The story must be gen. Gen, for this meme, are stories that do not focus on a pairing nor anything sexual, though acknowledging canon pairings is fine so long as they are not the focus.

Ask me one fandom-related question in the comments. This can be fandom specific, general, or about fandom/lj stuff/fic writing/etc. in general.

Just one question, please, but it can have sub-parts.

Question can be as wacky as you want. Ask me about tv shows, characters, fanfic in general, fandom issues/meta, anything about any of my stories specifically. Whatever you want.

My fandom is mostly SGA, but I also dabble in Thoughtcrimes, First Monday, and Dr. Who. The latter two I really need to write more of :/

Snurched from various people all over my f'list.

Using only four words, tell me what you would say to me if we woke up in a jail together.

Then copy and paste this into your own Livejournal and see what responses you get.

Love Meme

THE FANFICTION LOVE MEME

I've signed up, Kristen has signed up. Let me know if you've signed up that the love may spread.
kriadydragon: (Default)
Snurched from [livejournal.com profile] kristen999

Step One:

• Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 unlimited holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

• If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.

• Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, so that the holiday joy will spread.

Step Two:
• Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

• If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

• You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out; it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call.

• There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

Iz Bored

I want to edit but can't until tonight after everyone has gone to bed, I'm not starting on my Secret Santa story until tomorrow, I've read all the gen Big Bang stories, and nothing is on until seven. So I'm bored, and decided to give the following meme a try. Snurched from both [livejournal.com profile] kristen999 and [livejournal.com profile] coolbreeze1.

Pick a paragraph (or any passage 500-1000 words) from any fanfic I've written, and comment to this post with that selection. I will then give you a DVD commentary on that snippet: what I was thinking when I wrote it, why I wrote it in the first place, what's going on in the character's heads, why I chose certain words, what this moment means in the context of the rest of the fic, lots of awful puns, and anything else that you'd expect to find on a DVD commentary track.

My fic archive can be found here. You can also click on fanfiction in tags and it will narrow my journal down to story entries only.

1. Post a list of up to 20 books/movies/anime/TV shows/video games/bands that you've had an obsessive fannish love or interest in at some time in your life.

2. Have your f-list guess your favourite character/member from each item.

This is something I wrote a while back after running into story that completely failed on the whumping aspect.

The following meme is based on various observations I've gathered over the years of reading whump fic. Feel free to agree, disagree and add your own two cents. Just remember: we've probably all been guilty of some of the things that will be mentioned and one point or another. To whump someone isn't as easy as it sounds ;)
