Thank you :D The involvement of the bran was actually kind of an accident. It's original purpose was as a final act of torture, but it ended up morphing into something more. I love it when plots do that ;)
It feels like forever since I ended a story with a meaty infirmary scene. these days my stories never seem to have room for them, and I wish they did.
