Much Book Love

I already made my rec on [livejournal.com profile] bookden but I'm rec'ing it again.

Malice by Chris Wooding. A novel/comic hybrid about a dark and sinister world found within a comic book. Rumor has it that when you mix the right ingredients and say the right words, you'll end up in Malice itself. Seth and Kady think it's just a story until their friend vanishes. They soon come to realize just how real and dangerous Malice is.

Mysterious, creepy, dark, characters who are actual people and not cardboard cut-outs there for the sake of having characters - what's not to love? :D This book had me hooked by page one.

I'm really crossing my fingers that my luck with books has changed. It's extremely rare for me to buy or check out a book and actually finish it. Most of the time, it's rare that I get past even the first chapter. My instincts when it comes to books hasn't been all that great. I can tell right off the bat if I'm going to love a movie, but that same instinct has been a dud when it comes to books. I'm a very picky reader, and it doesn't take much for me to set a book aside and never pick it up again.

But I had a good feeling about Malice. I read it, finished it, loved it, and now I've started another book that's showing a lot of promise. There are also several books I've come across that have caught my interest like crazy. I really hope this means a future full of a lot of reading. I'm tired of playing roulette with books, but I'm even more tired of having nothing good to read.
