White Collar Review of Inevitability

I know I said no more reviews but I just had to say something on this ep...

akebberiohjgkdjbduhsfkjsbfdljhslf! *passes out*

Oh, January, why must you be so far, far away! Oh show, why must you be so cruel with your cliffhangers! Gah, White Collar does twisty so wonderfully.

And Neal decided! He wants to stay! But Mozzie's parting words - no, Mozzie, no. Just let Neal leave the game.

Eeeeellll! I knew something was going to happen to her I just knew it! And now... and now... and now...!

I'm not a fan of January but... we can haz January, plz? *wibbles*

PS: Neal is friggin' hot when being clever and naughty and wearing a hat :D *happy sigh*

I agree January is too far away.

I do believe this is where Neal has "hit rock bottom". As far as we can tell Mozzie walked out on him :(, Peter doesn't trust him (an by his look at the end of the episode feels betrayed),and I can only guess Diana and Jones' feels are, and poor El...
I don't know who I should feel worse for right now.. Peter or Neal.
I really can't want until January for the next half of the season >.< argh!

Peter I feel bad for on principal: El was just taken! Neal I feel bad for because he finally made his decision - to give up a fortune, his old life even, and keep the life he has - and just like that things are being ripped apart. My heart was in pieces by the end.

I honestly think that out of all the cliffhangers, this one is a whopper, because we have no idea what's going to happen next. Obviously Neal is going to do what he can to help Peter find El, because we've seen that when the crap hits the fan Neal is nothing but cooperative, but that means having to tell Peter about the treasure.

Or will Neal say nothing in order to protect Mozzie, and find his own way to save El?

Will Neal end up back in jail? Will this mean the end of Peter and Neal's friendship? So many questions! *Bites nails down to nub*

this show is so good! (Now if we could just get some Neal whump, I'd be in heaven ;))

[identity profile] ladyniko.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
I should have seen that coming with El, really. However, I was sort of hoping it was Neal, but the camera angles led too much to it being An Intruder. (That type of shot's been used in too many crime movies & TV eps.)

Oh Neal, I love you for staying, but you should have talked to Peter months ago.... just, grah...... January's not my fave month either but yet, I can't wait for it to get here to see how this works out. They can't kill El - that would just be too cruel & would totally wreck Peter beyond belief. *wibbles*

I know! that would be beyond horrible, and yet another reason to stress about the next ep :/ there hasn't been word on Tiffany wanting to quit the show or anything, has there? Has there!

One of my theories as to why Neal was so torn wasn't so much just him wanting that life of luxury but also believing that he was now between a rock and a hard place, that for Peter to find out about the treasure would mean being tossed back in prison. Because there were times I felt like Neal wanted to say something but didn't really know how to without him ending up behind bars and Peter's career going down the tubes. Which is why for this season I couldn't really blame Neal for not being honest.

[identity profile] ladyniko.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
I've heard nothing on that. I think Tiffany's enjoying the show too much. Heck, her hubby was Decker, so that meant they were actually in the same city working on the same show at the same time. ;)

This was my exact response. I don't think it really hit me how far away January was until that last scene in the Burkes' house. Waiting for the conclusion of that cliffy is going to be really effing difficult. Thank god for the WC fic exchange! =)

I'm itching to get the second season now instead of waiting until my birthday just to fill the gap between now and January. Man what a cliffhanger!

(hee-hee! Your icon <3)

How do I make my story for the fic exchange canon compliant now? *whines*

January - January is riddiculous. The second half of one season is closer to the first half of the next season than the other way around.

That was so good! That was my show! Back full force! (Although I wasn't really surprised by the ending, too much foreshadowing, but well done).

And we get another Keller episode! Yeah!

[identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Crack a whip at it and make it work! Or just call it an AU ;)

I'm always torn about these long gaps with some shows. On the one hand (and I'm just assuming here) it's probably easier on the actors and writers. On the other hand... it's so far away!

I felt this episode to be teh awesome, but I cringe to think what other reviews will have to say, since there's been quite a bit of negativity (I've been trying to avoid other reviews, but I'm weak).

[identity profile] swanpride.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Not much negative this time around. Even at TV withough pity the ep is generally liked.

I like other reviews - they can drag you down, but sometimes they also help. I was so unhappy about Peter being so stupid this season until someone pointed out that he is dragging his feet the same way Neal does because he doesn't really want to catch Neal.

[identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com 2011-08-10 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I like reviews when they're discussions and not "let's hate on the characters and show creators and nit-pick it to death." I've become rather protective of this show since it's one of the few that hits pretty much all my squee buttons, and lately I feel like people have really been ripping into it for reasons I just don't understand. They act like Eastin is dragging it through the mud when it's been pretty consistent with what we've gotten every season (something happens, Neal does stuff behind Peter's back, Peter suspects Neal of doing stuff, lots of cat and mouse while the friendship continues, then something bad happens, and things get resolved).

And I guess it bothers me because I've seen shows that really have gotten dragged through the mud, so know that White collar isn't being dragged through anything.

I don't think that I will ever be happy with the Sara-arc - I really think that her presence drags the episodes down and that the whole relatioship is OOC for Neal. I liked her much more as antagonist. Sorry...but it's sad to see a show being medicore when it could be good or fantastic.

[identity profile] wildcat88.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
I loved it! Neal jumping off a tall building and finding his hat at the bottom along with the handoff to Mozzie in step. The layers in the conversations between Neal and Peter. Peter calling his mentor because he knows he's not seeing clearly, even though he's trying. Neal having Agent What's-her-name over a barrel.

Neal CHOOSING to stay!

Mozzie giving an ultimatum and not backing down.

El being taken - which I knew as soon as the camera showed her cooking through the window. [livejournal.com profile] friendshipper totally called that.

And the look on Peter's face when Neal came in at the end. Oh, Peter!

Come on, January!!

[identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Neal base jumping like that just gave me all kinds of happy chills, but not as much as Neal making the decision to stay. I can't say it enough - I love this show! And, yes, my first thought was that Friendshipper was totally right and that Elizabeth was Keller's target.

That ending was so heartbreaking. The look on Peter's and Neal's face just tore me.

[identity profile] ladyniko.livejournal.com 2011-08-11 06:37 am (UTC)(link)
The shot from outside with her on the phone was such a blatant giveaway that something was going to happen. (I mistakenly was hoping it was Mozzie or Neal come to talk to her. But I was also brain dead last night when I watched it, so I will blame that misunderstanding on my exhaustion. :-p)

We knew Keller was up to something, but I wasn't figuring on him taking her to get Peter to believe him. I just hope that she stays as stubborn & fierce as we know her to be. :)
