Of Weather, Extended Family and Living Conditions
Springtime always makes me so obsessed with the weather forecasts, and not even because of tornadoes. I'll admit that I can be pretty obsessive about things, and the way temperatures like to fluctuate during spring drives me up the wall. We'll get this build up 60 to 70 to 80 degree weather and it's right back to forties and goodbye all the tree blossoms. We get all these lovely blooms but the first cold snap and everything goes brown and dead. Then it's right back to 60 and 70 degree weather. It's almost like winter's trying to get revenge for having to make way for spring :/
But at the same time it's rather funny because all the weather sites I'll look up can never agree on anything. One site likes to be pessimistic, another optimistic, and another apparently drunk because it most definitely wasn't 80 today.
In other news... I really hope we get our house back, soon. My brother and his family moved into our basement after he quit his job (which was a good thing since the company went under). They've been living with us for two years, now, thanks to a job market that seems to be going out of its way not to hire people with many years experience. Their plan now is to buy up cheap, run down properties and flip them (because it most definitely beats living in a basement), but first they need to find the right property.
Now don't get me wrong; living with them hasn't been some horrible experience. They only have two boys in their early teens who are really good kids. But, well... we're two totally different families. Before my brother and his family moved in it was just me, my mom and my sister - all of us adults. We have our way of doings things, they have their way of doing things, and although these ways haven't really clashed we're all getting to the point of "I can haz my own space back, please?"
Oh, and we only have one bathroom, and one of the boys takes insanely long showers. And we all have incredibly crappy timing when it comes to needing the bathroom. Plus I think my mom and older nephew are starting to be at odds. My older nephew has high functioning autism but that isn't the issue - we know what he can and can't help. The issue is that he's a teenager. A good kid but he will talk back, he will rail against taking responsibility for some of his actions and he will occasionally try to get away with things he knows he shouldn't do. I kid you not when I say we have to hide some of our food, because he will help himself to the point that that food will be gone within the day. When we do allow him use of that certain food we have to limit him like crazy or he will go to town on it (fifteen Oreos. Fifteen friggin' Oreos and no one knew about it until my mom found the empty bag and he started complaining about a stomach ache), and whereas before my mom used to be rather laid back about it, it's now becoming an increasing source of frustration for her. And my mom is generally a laid back person so, yeah, that's saying a lot.
(And speaking for myself, being the obsessive and sometimes easily agitated person that I am, I can never be around my nephews for too long or they drive me bonkers. It's not that they do it on purpose nor are they doing anything wrong, but little things get to me way too easily - like my younger nephew singing the same three songs over and over, or my older nephew trying to sneak his dog upstairs - and they do a lot of "little things" because, well, they're kids. It's what kids do).
And, you know, living in a basement with only one bedroom and very little space...yeah. I complain but, hey, at least I have my own space to escape to. It's been getting to my sister in law the worst. In fact she ended up getting jury duty and she's been quite happy about it because it's meant not having to be in the basement all day. My brother and nephews find their escape via Minecraft and Pokemon.
So we're all getting to this point of things needing to change, and hopefully they'll change soon.

Heh, I probably made things sound worse than they really are. Frankly things worked out pretty well. But, yeah, something does need to change for the sake of everyone's future sanity ;)

Are you able to see the Lunar eclipse by you?
