I Really Don't Get People Sometimes

Okay, so, apparently there's this ideology that's been going around which involves the belief that it should be okay for a woman to have an after-birth abortion. With the cut-off age being at five years old. The belief being that since children within this age-range can't take care of themselves, then they aren't really human.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! o.O

How the crap do people who think this way even exist? I mean, I'd like to think society as a whole smart enough not to let this be anything more than a bunch idiots being a bunch of idiots. But, still, that people even think this way... that they try to justify it...

I normally try my best not to be judgemental of people, but the people who think a child isn't a human being and therefore it's okay to "abort" them is a disgusting monster.

(ETA: To clarify, this isn't an actual thing that people or the governement  are trying to push. It came about during a discussion on abortion on college campuses, in which some students and professors expressed that they didn't see anything wrong with aborting a child after it was born.)

I don't understand what that means, so I googled it and this is what I found.

Actually, my rant's based more on a discussion that was had with some college students and professors concerning abortion, in which some of them professed that after birth abortion for kids up to the age of five (even six) was okay. It's not an actual agenda anyone is trying to push, more just a mindset some people have.

(I also read the journal article that the article you linked to was talking about. While, yes, it does seem to be talking more in a philosophical sense and isn't actually pushing any kind of agenda, what it has to say is still pretty skeevy).

Is that supposed to be 5 years or 5 months? Because killing a child at 5 years old is murder unless we're talking uncivilized countries?

Five years, I believe. Supposedly the reasoning is that because the child can't take care of themselves then they can't be called a real person, or something weird like that. Like I said in the comment above, it was a just discussion and not anyone trying to push an actual agenda. It's still disturbing that people have a mindset like that.

Yeah, I always thought some people were sick in the mind. I want to bury the people who beat their children to death or just murder them. I can just imagine what I would do to someone who would act on something like that, Idea or not!

The things people try to rationalize as being acceptable makes me want to throw up. I was reading this one comment thread in which this one guy was actually trying to justify letting little kids decide for themselves if they want to have sex with, say, someone who's older. The guy might as well have a tattoo on his forehead that says "pedophile."

I think that the pedophiles do have a group out there like that.

Just another way for deviants to justify doing the things they do and trying to get away with it!

I know. I... just... I couldn't even believe that someone would even dare to suggest the idea the first time I heard that this was an actual thing people advocated. But at that point I figured, okay, this is horrifying but there's no way it goes beyond one or two fringe nutjobs and surely the rest of society will react strongly enough that it'll never become something average people can discuss as if the idea might be remotely normal to consider, never mind morally acceptable to actually carry out.

And yet. I continue to be stunned by just how far society can go in pushing the bounds of justifying insane and horrifying things.

Humanity is frighteningly good at rationalization and justification. It boggles my mind the things I see people trying to push as acceptable. It's also really scary because many of the worst atrocities in history often started out as nothing more than "talk."

Err, isn't that just murder? Bet these would be 'Christians'!
