Really, 2016? Really?

Okay, I know there's this thing about 2016 being a year of, well, dying. It's mostly been celebrety deaths, and for a time I kind of thought it was an exaggeration, but... yeah... I kind of have to agree with the sentiment.

Not only did we lose one of our dogs and I lost a feral cat this year, but Christmas day I discovered my other feral cat - the really sweet one who was my favorite and who had the cutest meow - got hit by a car. Plus this November one of the vet techs at the Humane Society's clinic who had worked there forever had passed away, and she wasn't anywhere near being old (she was the one who helped me in getting my cat, Pepper). Then my mom told me that two people she had gone to school with had passed away.

Good gravy, 2016, enough already!

The loss of two of my ferals also reminded me why it is none of my indoor cats are allowed to go outside. There have been times I thought about fixing up the backyard for Pepper because she keeps wanting outside. Welp, that's not gonna happen. I've lost too many cats to the outdoors over the years. She can go outside if she has a leash on, an only in the backyard. Other than that, no outside for her.

Also what is it with bad stuff wanting to happen on or near certain holidays?

(On the plus side, I had one annoying medical issue go away, and I'm crossing my fingers that the years ends with no other medical issues cropping up, I awlays get the weirdest, most obnoxious ailements around this time of year).

A lot of people die around Christmas time. Quite a few of them are celebrity's.

Two people I know lost their cats and two people my sister knew died within the last two weeks 1 of them on Christmas day. This has been a horrible lousy year, I'm glad it's almost over!

Well, the celebrity thing has been more throughout the year than just on holidays. But, yeah, everyone else it's been around some holiday or other (our dog had to be put down on July 4th).

I'm not a superstitious person but I really hope 2017 having 7 in it means a luckier year :/

It's really been a pile of shit this year. Worst year EVER! I woke up Christmas morning to find out one of my aunts was dying and that George Michael passed away in his sleep. My heart broke Christmas morning.

2016, you can go to hell. Oh wait, you already are hell.

2016 was actually pretty decent for me for a while. But looking back it really does seem like such a death-happy year. Here's hoping 2017 is a lucky year for everyone.

It has been such an insane year. And I'm so sorry it's come close to home for you like that... It's really hard to lose an animal, especially prematurely like that, and it does seem like crises like that are especially prone to happen right around holidays. :(

Sorry for the loss of your furry ones. I haven't brought any new pets into the house. Eventually I hope to get another cat or dog (well, the latter would be if I didn't work and retired and was wealthy enough to do it, so, it will be a cat). I'd love to get another Siamese. They're like dogs in cat's bodies :)

Yes, 2016 was definitely a crappy year. Hope we get through the next few days with no more deaths like this week.
