This is a book recommendation community for sci-fi/fantasy books, mangas and comic books I set up a while back. If you've recently, or a while back, read a book that knocked your socks off then, please, recommend it. If you're looking for something good to read, then browse through what's been rec'd. There's even the occasional discussion.

hey can i ask you a question as well if you don't mind?

i am kind of looking to improve on my writing skills. do you know of a community that would critique original stories, and where the people are truthful but not over the top mean?

Well, the only com I can think of is going_original, which is a member's only community and hasn't been really active. Titan5 and Flingslass and I have a little writing group going on (currently quiet at the moment). It's mostly consisted of discussions since no one really has a story to critique, but I would like to expand it into story critiquing.

Although I would like to get more people involved should we do so, in order to have a wider range of opinions.

i've been writing original stuff but i do struggle with a few things so outside opinions are appreciated

but at the same time i am a bit nervous

We're a pretty small group and, so far, we've had pretty good results. Plus it's done by e-mail so you don't ahve to worry about people outside the group seeing or reading what you don't want seen or read. If you want to take part, I just need your e-mail address. I was thinking about opening the group up to discussing fanfic ideas (doesn't matter the fandom, but be warned it might be SGA dominated.)
