By back hurts, my hands are all scratched up from putting the tree and lights up, and I gouged the crap out of my thumb opening a box. Seriously, what the foo? Christmas decorating is supposed to be fun!
On the the plus side, the tree is almost completely decorated and is shiny and sparkly, just the way I like it. I honestly think that's what I like about Christmas - the colors, the shiny, the smell of cinnamon and baking things. And the presents, of course ;) it's a big slice of fun in an otherwise drab winter.
Could do without the Christmas music 24/7. Don't get me wrong, I like Christmas music, just not all the time on every dang radio station :P (or what feels like every dang radio station.)
On an entirely different note, I'm giving serious thought to editing some of my earlier stories. Nothing major, just a bit of cleaning up to make them flow better. I was looking at my fic Two Way Street and all I wanted to do was fix its myriad of structural issues. I don't know whether I'll end up cleaning all my older fics. For now I plan to only clean the ones still getting traffic (like Two Way Street.) My longer works I'm still undecided. If I do clean up a chapter fic, it'll probably be Hound of Hell you Cry.
But I have plenty of time to think about it since I can't start this little project until we get our main computer back, since it has all my older files. I know I can copy and paste, but it tends to be a hassle, especially when the paragraphs run together (I absolutely refuse to deal with that).
Edit: If there's a particular story you would like to me to clean up to make it easier to read, let me know. But only those stories three chapters or less and only those stories written before Hound of Hell. Later stories I'll deal with, well, later.

I no longer put up a tree. I used to when mom was alive.
One year I put it up about 10 days before Christmas and
it stayed up till Valentine's Day
:P
I am NOT kidding. I have a lush artificial tree which looks like a Noble Fir......and decorated it is to die for.
It is not one of those white flocked things which I despise.
Could do without the Christmas music 24/7.
***nods***
They started Christmas music in local stores well before
Thanksgiving and ComCast Audio channel started it Thanksgiving Day.
Like you I have nothing against it, I just don't see any reason to start playing it weeks ahead.
I also am not impressed by the majority of secular music as so much of it is so annoying, although there are some secular pieces I really love e.g. Mary's Boy Child etc.
I like to hear it beginning about two weeks before......that is enough.
When I was a kid mom never took the tree down or put away the decorations till after New Years' Day...Between Christmas and New Years Day is my birthday which always featured the tree also, so there was a lot of Christmas without celebrating it before Thanksgiving.

Date: 2009-11-30 09:10 pm (UTC)From:I like our new tree. It doesn't take up as much space and we were able to decorate all the way around. The lights, which are white, were blinding at first but once we got the decorations up it was a lot more decent.
We usually wait until Dec. 1st but I couldn't wait this year :D Last years was when we moved into the new house, so we weren't able to put up the decorations. I really missed them, and was looking forward to seeing them so much that we started decorating immediately after Thanksgiving.
