It's frustrating to no end when the only description we get for the location of someone's injury is "in the side." Because "in the side" is still a lot of territory to cover. Did the character take it in the chest, ribs, below the ribs, above the hip, toward the left/right of the upper abdominal region, the left/right of the lower abdominal region. Where, dang it, where!

I'm not asking for uber medical details, just more than "in the side."

**applauds**
NOT as in reams of pages, but how about a bit more detail to make it easier to visualize?
Also I would like to know if a mere graze or something a bit
more serious...and let's not forget the ridiculousness if it is a serious wound that Sheppard, or whoever, gets up and walks away as soon as the rescue party arrives........
Finally when they arrive back at Atlantis, it is a lick and a promise in the infirmary and we're off world again as soon as we can get a new set of BDUs and tidy up our P-90
Please, a bit more reality here.

Yes. I can't stand that. The character is shot, stabbed, beaten, poisoned or whatever but moves around like all is well. It's not that it isn't possible, but when somebody is hurt they're not going to move around with their usual ease. There will be pain, maybe dizziness, maybe staggering. I once read a published - published! - story where the character was poisoned, but you sure as heck wouldn't know it. The only indication was that they were sweaty. Other than that, they pretty much acted and even felt like normal.

OK now that the door is wide open, I feel compelled to
cite the scene in Search and Rescue when Sheppard and Ronon are beamed
aboard the Daedalus.........
Sheppard has been skewered by a beam in the implosion
of that booby trapped building. When they are beamed aboard the Dadelus, he is on a gurney in the infirmary, dirty and still in his BDUs and boots, and Keller is digging in his side where the beam had put a big hole.
Ah, what's wrong with this picture?
No wonder ff writers are not concerned with reality when the writers of the series were so clueless about it.
In reality, he would have been stripped of his BDUs, his boots, and be holding down a table in the OR once they saw the extent of the wound, protests or no protests from him, because when they bring in wounded, the officer who is wounded, in this case Sheppard, is no longer in charge, no matter the circumstances.
That is canon in the military.
I cite this only because I am just feeling a bit overwhelmed by how
unbelievable it all is........
Today in Siege II COL Everette comes on board Atlantis and Ford salutes him and then a few minutes later Everette salutes who??? He is ranking officer to any and all who are present........
***sighs***
I need to stop watching it. I am finding more and more that drives me nuts not only in stuff as I cite in Search and Rescue, but this episode today.
They needed a medical and a military adviser badly.
