I've been taking into deep consideration giving Ezra a dargon, as I find the idea fascinating ;) Maude would have obtained the egg, of course, either in a con or a game of chance. though the dragon favored Ezra, it's personality is a mix of the two humans, and the dragon forever gets a kick out of getting mother and son to argue. It was be a bright red dragon with gold markings. And, yeah, making it female would be interesting.
I'm still undecided as to whether or not to give Ezra a dragon as well in this universe, or do a separate universe for it. At the moment, the current 'verse is mostly Vin's and Wain's story. But I so love the idea of Ezra with a dragon as well :D
