Nefarious Various and... Pain! Gah!
Feb. 11th, 2008 10:55 pmI'm really trying hard to avoid complaining about anything. I pulled a muscle in my back under my shoulder blade and it's put me in a bad mood by making typing difficult. So no stories written today. *Sulks* I wanted to write the Riddick/SGA crossover! *sobs* Tomorrow, hopefully.
I've been struggling with the writing of Black Dragon, and I think I finally know what the problem is. I love sci-fi, have several stories that are sci-fi, but may have jumped into the sci-fi lake a little too soon, because all I want to write is fantasy. Some good old fashioned sword and sorcery with lots of dragons, magic and an underdog hero. I even have a story in mind, and all I need to do is flesh it out... which will probably take a while. I've learned the hard way never to jump into a story until I've reached the point where I can plan no more. So I will continue with Black Dragon, the going to be even more slow, until I either finish it or the fantasy is ready. I'm going to try and outline what I've yet to write in BD, see if that helps as that's part two behind my sluggish motivation. I've never written - or I should say I've never completed - a story I haven't outlined. And I only started BD because nothing else was ready and I needed to write something original to get back into the game.
On the fanfic front, if BD continues to prove difficult, I may start on my next chapter fic early to give me something to do as I plan out the fantasy novel. Or I may start it just to have something to write when the muses don't feel up to tackling BD for the week (I find my motivation fluctuates - some days I'm gung-ho to write BD, other days not so much.) There's the AU fic, but that one I'm writing totally at my liesure, usually a little here or there once a week.
