*Iz Bored*
Jul. 20th, 2010 05:39 pmI'm in one of those "don't really feel like doing anything* moods. More specifically, a "Don't feel like writing today* moods. Which isn't a bad thing since taking a break now and then keeps me from getting burned out on a story, and yesterday I got quite a bit of writing done. I'm 31,000 words into my Sheppard amnesia story, which is an incredible relief as I thought for sure this story was going to fight me every step of the way. Instead, thus far it's turned out to be a "write me and write me now!" type of story. I really wish I knew what it was that makes some stories easier to write than others, as most of the time I feel like I'm slogging through mud.
It's also one of those stories that decided to rebel against the majority of the outline. The beginning is written how I planned it, the end should still end up as what I have in mind, but the middle has done a complete one-eighty on me. Which is just fine, as it makes writing the story more interesting. I'm pretty much making it up as I go, which is fifty/fifty as to whether it will cooperate or bite me on the butt, and so far it has been cooperating beautifully. There have been a few snags, but they have managed to resolve themselves.
I'm not trying to brag or anything. I just find it odd how some stories seem eager to be written and some stories would rather sulk in the corner and fight my every attempt to wrangle them in. I'm crossing my fingers that my amnesia story will continue to play nice.
But for today, I think I'll veg out for a bit.
