But a rabbit is a far more viable choice than a cat (and we miss having a rabbit we can actually pet without it grunting at us and running away). Instead of getting one from the fair directly we've been talking to a breeder (well, I have, but it's my mom who wants a rabbit). This time we're hoping to get one young enough to train it to use a cat box so it doesn't have to be penned up all the time if possible. We're getting a dwarf rabbit, so of course there's a bit of concern with the dogs and cats. But the dogs are generally afraid of anything smaller than them and knowing my cats, they should lose interest pretty quick. Neither dogs nor cats had any real interest with our last rabbits, anyway. So though we will be cautious about this neither are we worried.
Even though it's my mom getting the rabbit, I'm rather excited about this. I always felt bad for our other rabbits because we would keep them in a pen and not take them out too often because they would poop on us, so it's going to be interesting to see if we can train this rabbit to have free run of the house without it leaving us little "surprises." ;)
