Why is it when a group of people say "we want a thing" and it's a thing you don't like, that there's this overpowering need to state "well, I kind of hope we don't get the thing"? (not in a squee-harshing way, just in a "I'm not on this particular bandwagon" kind of way.) Is it to establish that, hey, not everyone likes the thing? Or is it just acting on the frustration of everyone liking the thing you don't like? Or maybe it's a reaction of dread over the possibility of the thing you don't want actually happening, and getting antsy whenever people bring it up?
Or maybe it's just a combination of all of the above. Either way, I really need to learn how to take a step back whenever a fandom is causing me this much aggravation, especially when the aggravation is over something so trivial.
