I have finally given the characters for my NaNo story names :D Well, first names. Last names are still pending. Naming my characters is usually the third step after creating the world then writing a summary of the plot. I don't like to name my characters until I get a better feel for their personality, then I will work through a list of names until I find something that just seems to fit, whether it's a real name or a made up name. In the case of this story, I used real names. Last names I plan to make up (and should a few end up being real last names, it will be unintentional). The world, though like our world, is actually a made-up world, but I didn't feel right about using made-up names; a bit too much, I thought.

Now that I have at least the first names ready, it should make outlining a lot easier. I plan on doing a light outline -a gist of the story - rather than my usual more detailed outlines which can take months to write up. Plus I want to leave the story open enough to let it write itself, if possible. It's risky, though, as the last time I did this the last lightly outlined story ended up taking a year to write. But we'll see.

This story came together pretty quick. I had the world and the summary of the plot ready before I started the Sheppard H/C story. All that was really left was coming up with the names and a light outline. Plots are weird like that because some will pop into my head fully formed while others take months, even years to come together.
