Yes, they have filed for bankruptcy.........the big one downtown on 3rd in Portland closed out last month. I was shocked when I saw they were in an all sell out mode I rarely go downtown but my hairdresser is there so I took a walk since I arrived a bit early and found the sign on their door. :-/ Powell's which is the largest privately owned bookstore not only in US but the world is cutting back......... I forget how many employees they have laid off with promise first hire if things pick up.........
