I think this show is doing an awesome job with character development. Like I told someone once, in season one Neal would have taken the treasure and left hands down, but only after he found Kate. But this season's Neal dithered, he stayed, then was more than willing to give himself up just to put Keller away.
I'm one of those who believes Neal is capable of giving up a life of crime, and I think we're starting to see that more and more in the show. I think it will still be a temptation for him in some way, but I think we're getting to a point where it will take a lot for Neal to choose any kind of treasure over the life he has now.
