I saw it a couple of weeks ago and I liked it too. Matt did look might fine in it. I think his character's reason for wanting to die was two-fold: 1. He was over 100 and he was tired, and 2) he felt guilty over how many people were dying so that he could have as much time as he did.
I actually like Justin Timberlake. He's not in my top ten or anything but I've always thought he did a nice job in the films I've seen him in. I've never thought of him as looking young either (not like Leonardo DiCaprio or Elijah Wood) but I can see your point. And I'm in total agreement with your assessment of his character in the movie. Unusual to see altruism.
I saw a picture of Matt B in his stripper role. Honestly, it's almost enough to make me go see the movie. :D
