What a great, suspenseful read! You actually had me fooled at the very beginning. I was starting to read and my first thought was: “Oh no, now he's outright lying to Peter?!” Which seemed OOC to me and so it was really funny for me that Peter, too, gets all confused over it because it's such a bad lie. And I really liked how Neal tries to make it even more obvious when Peter seems to believe him. I also love how Peter is his usual clever self and figures out the thing with the glasses just from Neal's “wtching”. I myself had sometimes trouble figuring out what he means. Also “I DNT” wouldn't have made any sense to me. That scene (or rather both scenes, from Neal's and Peter's perspective) was one of my favorite: How things don't go as smoothly for Neal and he has to shake off the cops – and then cut to Peter's reflections on what had happened: “but Neal in true Neal fashion gave them the slip” and his frustration and helplessness in the face of the situation came through really well (because "Neal remained in no position to be helped."). And obviously another favorite is the scene where Peter's showing up (I think I was as relieved as Neal at that part) and the bomb gets diffused. In this whole context (although I loved the whole scene), this sentence is my favorite because it shows the myriad of emotions Neal (and also Peter) have to be feeling: “DNT MOVE, and, oh, how Neal wanted to snap how he'd gotten that message already, to tap back please, please hurry.” And then there's the ending of course: I love your explanation as to why Neal has never lied to Peter and how you end it with them quipping at each other again which leaves us with a scene that's both funny and cute. :)
