kriadydragon: (Obi-Wan)
There's a good chance I may disppear from the Internet for a while - maybe a few days, maybe a week, maybe more than a week. Maybe drop in once a week, I don't know. All I do know is that I need to step back, take a break and indulge in other things for a while. I have an original fic that needs more of my attention, plus I just got SGA season four and it's been giving me all kinds of story ides :D. Also... I don't know, I just haven't been having as much fun with fanfic as I used to. Don't get me wrong - I still love writing it and will keep writing stories, and still enjoy reading good fic - it's just other things, things that are kind of hard to explain except to say that I'm taking way too seriously things that shouldn't be taken seriously. I get too easily frustrated and upset by small stuff and it has made my involvement in fanfic and fandom less enjoyable.

I want that enjoyment back, and I think taking a break then spending less time on the internet the way to make that happen. I'm a very focused and routine-oriented person. Once I focus on something, once it becomes part of my routine, it pretty much becomes my world in that it occupies most of my thoughts. Sometimes even all of my thoughts, like an obsession, and that's not a good thing.

My horizons have shrunk and they need to reexpand. The only reason I haven't done it sooner is because I'm caught up in several chapter fic that I want to finish reading. After that, if you on my flist write a yummy whump fic and I don't review, then you'll know why ;)

Argh... nooooo.... I love your fics... but I can understand your reasons. I've seen many fans do it. take a step back, do other stuff. Fandom should be fun, after all.

Hope you'll drop by on your LJ every so often, even if it's to talk about watering your plants :)

The selfish part of me is screaming, "No, don't do it!" cause I always look for something new from you. But as someone who sometimes obsesses over fanfiction to the exclusion of things I NEED to be doing, I understand. Sometimes you just need to give yourself some space. We WILL miss you and please drop in every once in a while just to let us know you're out there. When you're ready to start writing again, I'll be sitting here waiting. I've just been rereading some of your stuff tonight - I had a craving to read about Sherbet. Thanks for the many hours of enjoyment you have given us!!

I understand how you're feeling.

Take the time you need. Just know we'll be here when you get back. Get some rest and relaxation.

You're one of the few authors I really look forward to reading their fics.

Yes do step back and refresh. Always a necessary event. Done some of that myself lately. Interact with the world around and enjoy the fandom. Don't let it rule. Now if I could follow my own advice! :P

I can definitely sympathize. As much as I've enjoyed writing the Big Bang story, as happy as I was overall with the Genficathon, I have very little original writing to show since early March. My time has been totally sucked down by fandom. And while I deeply enjoy fandom, letting it rule your life isn't good! I'm looking forward to my totally Internetless vacation coming up next week, in the hopes I'll get my priorities straightened out just a little bit.

Oh, I will. This isn't to be anything permanent, just a kind of breather. I've got waaay to many stories in mind for anything permanent :D.

Thanks.

Rest assured I will be writing, original and fanfic. Whumping Shep is cathartic for me :D

Thank you :)

I've been putting it off, stubborn person that I am. I just hope it helps rekindle the fun of fanfic for me.

I'm totally looking forward to it. I just hope I can do it. Right now I feel quite ready to turn my back on fanfic for a bit, but I can see boredom and a need to rest my brain from writing luring me back, which is why I haven't taken a hiatus sooner.

We shall see, we shall see :)

I gotta say, I don't blame ya. I've thought about it myself. Between reading, work and writing there is just not enough paper! Unfortunately, I am now working on an Earthside AU that's really just for me, a redeux of His Girl Friday (sorry! it's slash sorta), and the sequels to Splinter and Rosie's Corner Store. And two ficlets for Thoughtcrimes.

Whew. You should see my bag of notebooks. You'd think I was a student somewhere.

Then I will have to take a break. I salute you!

Also, if you haven't read Thanatos (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/4338821/1/) yet, it's right up your alley. I know it's on LJ somewhere, but ff.net has a better format.

Have a nice break and check in every once in a while. It's nearly footy finals and I KNOW you want to see how Collingwood go :D
And you never know, I might have finished my fic by the time you come back :D *I'm laughing at that one myself*

Yes - recharging is very important! If'n ya was close to Montana, I'd take you out kayaking on a quiet, pristine mountain lake with the loons and herons. =^.^=

Relax, rest, and take care kiddo!
