Finally - finally - got the muses hyped and started writing my next SGA chapter fic. It took a little while to get into the right mindset. All that watching of Dr. Who kept giving me ideas. Bad, bad Doctor! Bad!

And though this complaint has already been made by myself and others numerous times, I feel the need to make it again - FF.net = utter crap. It's getting so that not only are there few, if any, satisfying whump stories, but now I'm hitting stories containing everything I hate in a fic. *Stares at the calander* Come ooooon October.

I admit I'd be more excited if it were Brendan, but I'll eagerly take what I can get from you when it comes to fiction. *sits on the edge of my seat in anticipation*

I've noticed that about FF as well. The first year or so (maybe two, if it's particularly slow to gain a following) of a fandom's existence on FF there are good quality fics aplenty, but then the desirability of reading material diminishes at an exponential rate.

There will be Brendan fic sometime after the SGA fic. I've had a Thoughtcrimes story in mind for quite a while that I really want to write. Much Brendan whumpage :D

This excites me greatly! Okay, anything by you excites me greatly. Especially in this era of little good John or Brendan whumping stories. Thank you for the hope of things to come. Uh, what's in October???? Yes, I'm that dumb.

Oh, I can't wait!!! And yes, FF.net REALLY became rubbish...unfortunately... No good stories, no real stories, just trash. No you, no Titan, hardly any Kristen, none of the good and long and insightful, and imaginative, and so on...
But I wish that your muse will keep you up and running. Thank you!

The H/C fic exchange. Nothing gets good stories out there like a ficathon. Without them, I think I'd go insane ;)

There's going to be a lot of fic from me now that I've finished the writing portion of the original fic.

Heh, thanks :D

Yes, Dr. Who has become a bad influence on the muses.

Uh, you wouldn't happen to be a Dr. Who expert, would you? The story I have in mind I really want to write, but I'll need someone who knows Dr. Who front to back - as it were - to look it over. Don't want to insult the hardcore fans with my newbie knowledge (i.e. lack thereof) :D.

Thanks! :D

What's really getting to me is that the whump is either next to no-existent (so many missed opportunities! It drives me nuts!) or the same type of whump over and over, plus of the kind of whump I personally don't like. Gut wounds tend to be my squick, for example - pretty much my only squick except for neither-region whump - depending on how it's handled. A lot of the stories I've been attempting to read on FF.net have involved gut wounds and other various dislikes, and it's made reading fanfic a rather uncomfortable and even depressing experience. Nothing's more relaxing and gets the muses going like a good fic, but running into all this crap is actually making me not want to read fic anymore.

Sorry for the rant, but I'd just run into yet another unpleasent story before typing up this reply. It's getting really bad on that site. I may have to avoid it all together.

Sadly no I am not an expert. Alipeeps is though. **darn** don't know how to add the user clicky thingy in a comment.

O M G! Yes! >.> I can't wait!!

Actually, I have a question. Are you going to soldier on and continue posting your fiction on ff.net? Or you reserving your stories for LJ?

Date: 2008-09-27 08:05 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Well, with this new story I plan on posting in both places. I may not like FF.net but there's readers there I've promised stories to. However, it depends on the reviews as to whether or not I will continue to post there. The whole reason I haven't for a while is because I'm sick of all those unhelpful "you have spelling errors, fix them" kind of reviews. I kept getting a ton of them with my last story. And yet there are many a poorly written, unbeata'd, badly plotted story that doesn't. It drives me crazy.
