I've been looking back over some of my earlier SGA fics. Needless to say, they make me cringe. The writing style, that is. But the plots? I miss those. I miss coming up with cooky stories like Wong End of a Leash, Jabberwocky, Just Keep Swimming and Squaring the Circle to name a few. Yeah, I know they probably scared most of my readers off, but they were so much fun to write.

I would love to be able to think up more "cooky" plots (and, no, this isn't a request for ideas. As the title above says, I'm just lamenting). Just go nuts with my imagination and whip up something odd and unpredictable. I've been trying to, but... *shrugs* I don't know. I either come up with something that's been done, something that ends up being generic/complicated, or I get distracted. I have some older ideas that have been stewing in my brain forever, but I can't quite muster up the desire to write any of them, yet.

But I would eventually like to write something long and fun and preferably wierd - a chapter fic like those from the days of yore (my yore, not everyone esle's yore ;)). I have an AU that's making incredibly slow progress, but it's an AU and I want something canony.

Overall, I would just like something SGA (or Thoughtcrimes, and I'm even considering trying my hand at some Dr. Who, just to expand my horizons) to write after completion of the original fic - cooky or not. I miss writing chapter stories even more than writing the wierd stuff (again, not asking for ideas, just lamenting).

don't take this the wrong way, but those were the fics that drew me to your writing... they were wonderful! (i copy & pasted them, so i can read wrong end of a leash even with no internet! - Is that sad? lol)

Thanks :D

I love to be as different and strange as I can be with my stories. But, lately, that mojo ship seems to have sailed. I need to sic a pirate ship on it to make it come back ;)

Scared the readers off? Hardly. Your wild imagination just makes your stuff even better. I wish I could come up with ideas like Jabberwocky and Wrong End of a Leash - two of my favorites. I have yet to come up with anything really original, so stroke that imagination!

I miss writing chapter stories too. I have no idea where I used to find the time to write those. I have a couple started, and keep getting distracted by other stuff. Not enough continuous working time to keep my thoughts together I guess.

Uh, The Experiment wasn't original? (which I read for... I've lost count now... but I read it again last night :D). When it comes to whumping Sheppard, you're as creative as they come ;).

My problem with chapter fic continues to be lack of motivation. I have plenty of ideas, just not the desire to write any of them. Hopefully, after the original fic, that motivation will be rediscovered (hopefully in time for SGA Big Bang;) I really want to take part in it this year.)

Oh dear, I do love your cooky stuff, and not cooky stuff. You do SGA fic so well (particulary Shep whump). Wish I could think of some ideas myself.

*Sniff* I miss my cooky stuff. I don't want to say that the ideas I've had are generic, but they kind of are. I have a prison-fic idea, and then there's my desire for a broken Sheppard story - all of which have been done before. And I know such fic never really go out of style since there's all kinds of ways to tackle them, but at the same time there's a kind of risk to it, as many people will ignore stories that seem to have the "same old story line" no matter who's writing.

I really sorta think that once "Enemy at the Gate" airs, we will no longer be constrained by canon, by an episode contradicting us, and we can go wild with fanfic ideas.

The Wrong End of a Leash...I abslolutely devoured that fic when you were posting. It was different, strange, great OCs, and just plain interesting. I remember thinking, I haven't read this before; I want more.

Yeah those were the days...SGA was still fresh and new and not canceled. Grr.

I would love to be able to come up with something like WEL (and I've actually been trying.) But there's so much that's already been done that it's hard to come up with anything new without wandering over into AU territory, it seems.

Yeah, I do kind of blame it on the show and the way it's been progressing - not in terams of the episodes being good or bad, but that everything about it isn't new and fresh anymore. The gang has pretty much been there and done that, and fanfic has explored those aspects of the gang we like to explore almost to death (such as their friendship, which I know never gets old, but can sometimes get to feeling like rehashing old themes.)

You may cringe....but I LOVE all of your fics from the very first one to the most recent. They are wonderful! Some are truly unique, and while you may not want to do something that you feel may have already been done, each author puts a different spin on a story making them as individual as the characters themselves.

As for motivation, I wish I new how to help with that. Because I have no doubt that whatever plot you chose to write, it would be awesome and uniquely yours.

Wrong End of a Leash btw, so AWESOME! Original story line with all the elements I look for.

Original plots or familiar ones, you write them very well. Character voices are right on target, whump, banter, humor, introspection. I love where your imagination takes us.

I myself don't mind a rehashing of old themes but I can see where you may not want to spend your time writing them. Too bad. But understandable. (I hope you will be writing the Prison Fic & Synchronous Reality though.)

It's important that you enjoy what you're doing. I just hope that in the near future, the desire to write SGA returns. You would be very sorely missed from this fandom.
