kriadydragon: (Shep 2)
The current challenge over yonder at [livejournal.com profile] matterofthemind got me thinking about Joe's guest spot in the show Birds of Prey. I wasn't a fan of that show. For one thing, I'm shallow - girl hero: mmmm, no. Me like boys :D Yes, very, very shallow. Plus it just never really hooked me. But I would watch it on and off if it happened to be on and there was nothing else to watch.

But what completely turned me off it was yet another show with the hot guy as a bad guy. Especially a bad guy I ended up feeling sorry for. Now, mind you, because my viewing was off and on I can't quite remember the details of Joe's character. If I recall correctly, he had the ability to take other people's powers, but being around people with powers caused him a lot of pain. Was this the main reason he went around killing people with powers? I can't quite remember. Because if that was the case, then he was a rather weak bad guy - not in the physical sense, but in the emotional sense. He wasn't killing because he was prejudice or looking to take over the world or anything. He was killing because he was in horrible pain and couldn't take it.

Again, though, that is if the pain was his reason for killing and there wasn't something more to it. If it was all about the pain, then it was kind of hard not to feel bad for him, and I do remember feeling kind of bad for him. Yes, he was killing, which pretty much sealed his fate. Still, I was kind of hoping a way could be found to help him.

I'll also admit that my sympathies may have been tainted by his hotness ;). After he was killed, I pretty much stopped watching.

It also had Morgan (who's real name currently elludes me) from Criminal Minds who, I think, also died despite being a good guy. Seriously, I swear this show had something against hot guys :P

"Seriously, I swear this show had something against hot guys :P" LOL!!

I always think in the back of my head, that there is some person who is getting revenge on the hot guys by casting hot actors to play these characters to be killed off...

Heh, probably ;) My personal theory is that making the hot guys bad is the wrtiers' attempts at being "different". Most shows, the hot guy is the hero, so in an attempt to be unique they make the hot guy bad or kill him off.

I think that's the Satan was "the most beautiful angel" angle... Beautiful equals evil...

I've never watched this and have no really desire to because the show looks truly awful - but that actually sounds like quite a cool idea for a bad guy.

I'd actually love to see Joe play a bad guy on a show, a character where he can really let go and have fun with it. I don't think it'll ever happen sadly. :(

The idea was cool, but the execution of it kind of sucked. My overall impression was that we were supposed to really hate this guy, but it was kind of hard to since his motivation seemed to be the pain he was in. What would have been cool, I think, is if they found a way to help him and he changed his ways. But then I'm a sucker for bad guys who are given second chances and take it as opposed to bad guys who have to be killed off.

I'm not fond of favorite actors playing bad guys. For one, because they're my favorite, it doesn't matter how evil they are, I end up rooting for them :D. For another, I hate seeing them killed off - especially like Joe's character was in BoP (which, yes, is not a show I'd recommend.)

*nods* I didn't put list one on the list in the other post, cause you mentioned you didn't want bad guy guest spots.

I prefer him as a good, myself.

I know a lot of people would love to see Shep play a bad guy - and I agree that he would be awesome at it ;) - but I think it would be hard, at least for me, especially if he ended up being killed off like in Birds of Prey. I really hated that, and that was before I was into Joe F like I am now.

Shemar Moore plays Morgan on CM. Was this the show with the three female superheroes because if it is then I couldn't stand it.

Thanks :)

Yeah, that's the show. The premise was intersting, I suppose, but overall it was difficult to stomach. And them killing off the hot bad guy who was bad because he was in pain really didn't help.

They killed Morgan (real name unknown - wait, Shemar Moore, I remembered!)?! Those bastards! I'm glad I only watched the epi with Joe, then. I liked Shemar's character. Actually, I really wish it had been the Shemar and Joe buddy cop show. I would watch that. Oh yeah.

I think so. I wouldn't quote me on it, though. I just remember that someone close to the group died, and I assumed it was Shemar's cahracter because he was no longer on the show.

that would have been awesome :D
