My cat Bug is back to pooping, and sometimes peeing, on the carpet. Thankfully in the same area so it's easy to clean up, and on a carpet that doesn't seem to stain. But I don't get it. for the first couple of months we moved in, she was going in the cat litter just fine. Then she got worms, and she usually ends up going where ever when she has worms. Except we gave her medicine, the worms are gone and she's still going on the carpet - once a day, usually at tonight - and seems to utterly refuse to go in the litter.
Why! What is her problem!
The only thing I can figure is that my other cat. Mitsy, is back to bullying her. She used to corner Bug while in the littler and beat the crap out of her. Now, I often find Mitsy sprawled out in front of one of the cat litter boxes (we have two) - little snot.
But I'm still not quite sure if that's the problem. And if it is, besides chasing Mitsy away from the cat boxes, I'm not sure what to do about it. I've put tape on the floor, I rubbed her nose in the places she crapped then gave her a light smack on the butt (hey, it worked with the dogs), I even moved one of the cat litter boxes to a new location. Tonight, I plan to lock Bug in the room with one of the cat litter boxes and hope she comes to realize that the cat litter isn't a scary place. But that's all I can think of doing.
It's strange that after months of going in the litter, she just ups and stops. On top of that, she's developed an odd fetish for kneading her claws into this big stuffed yellow dog I have. Which isn't as big a deal, but it adds to the wierdness of it all.

As far as returning to the same
site of urinating and defecating, you can remove that
scent if you have the right spray. I forget now what my
friend who has cats told me, but it apparently work quite
well.
As far as clawing, have you a post or a mat?
