I think WH13 is starting to grow on me. Of course it will never have the pull and hold that SGA did (it's rare for me to get into a show as deeply as I did SGA) but it's fun and doing things I liked. Myka knew what a red-shirt was, and Pete pointed out that she knew - hee! :D Loved it. I honestly think that's the first show where a woman revealed her geek side without her being Abby/Garcia-esque quirky. And I liked that they dealt with the issue of keeping secrets, and why Artie never explains everything that he should. It makes all his subterfuge a little less annoying (though, oddly enough, it was Artie that annoyed me this episode rather than Pete. I'm starting to like Pete again.)

I finally got around to watching SGA's Inquisition. I've been putting it off because I really don't like the rehash eps. This one was okay, but still a rehash ep so still a little boring (I preferred Letters to Pegasus over this one.) But what I loved was the end, when they're out on the balcony, smoking their cigars. After a few puffs on his, I could totally tell Sheppard(Joe) wasn't inhaling and, in fact, looked like he was trying very hard not to cough. My mom was watching it with me and pointed out that after a few puffs, Sheppard was starting to look a little green, and that he wasn't taking more puffs on the cigar while Woolsey was puffing away.

We know Joe declared himself a non-smoker, yet we've seen pictures of him - usually at social events - holding a cigar. Well, if I wasn't just seeing things in Inquisition, we can safely say that he isn't much for smoking cigars, either. which makes me wonder what he does with them. Hold them in his mouth and pretend to smoke just for appearance sake (or to be polite)? Puffs without inhaling (though he didn't seem to have much luck with that in the ep)?

But, again, I could have just been reading too much into Joe's reaction to the cigar. Still... I think I'll watch that particular part of the ep one more time to see ;)

I have no idea how to identify if he was really smoking or not, but poor Joe, lol.

I really liked last week's WH13, which rather surprised me. I thought it was the best ep they'd done. Maybe it was the emotion in it, but Pete trying to attach the cables but unable to reach it then Myka simply unable to make herself do it really said a lot about who they are.

I was horribly disappointed that Inquisition was a clip show. It was an idea with so much promise (and gave us the Pegasus coalition which is a plot device with so much potential I was almost giddy). I love the complication it brought and the fodder for future whump storylines.

I think WH13 is finally starting to find its feet. This week's episode was really good, and I liked Myka's speech at the end - "I'm not a red-shirt."

It's really hard to tell, but it seemed to me that he didn't do the thing where a smoker inhales, holds the smoke in his lungs, then exhales. His puffs came and went quickly to get the cigar going, looked like he was about to cough, then he stopped and didn't take any more puffs. It's when he stopped that my mom said he was looking a little green and that's why he stopped. I don't know, we just had a lot of fun discussing that part :D

Yes, poor Joe indeed ;)

Yeah, last week's was really good, as was this weeks. Both were quite a surprise after the ep before with Joe. It felt like with the Joe ep the writers had gone temporarily lazy, which sucks because... Joe was on it! *sobs* That is wrong on so many levels that it had to be the Joe ep that they did a crappy job on, when it's obvious that the writers are capable to doing good episodes.

Yeah, Inquisition bored me and seemed more intent on getting itself over with than actually putting any thought into it. I hate that TPTB gave up on this show while the show was still airing. They could at least have had the decency to put more effort into things and let the show end with a bang :P

That was my thought, that the show is starting to fit into its own skin, so to speak. Things have been getting better since last week's ep. I just hate that the episode with Joe ended up being so crappy (uh... have you seen it yet? In case you haven't I won't say anything beyond that I wish they had done it better.)

You don't inhale cigars like cigarrettes. If you do inhale into the lungs, the green color and lots of coughing and hacking are on the agenda.

This ep was a little more interesting but something is still just off. I'm still waiting for it to find its niche. Pete's character is forced. Look at me! I'm the good time guy!

I don't feel the two agents chemistry. I'll stick with it until the end but we'll see about a 2nd season if they get it.

*Shrugs* I don't know anything about smoking except for what I've seen other people do (and that's always been with cigarrettes). All I know is that Sheppard looked like he was about to cough, then didn't do any more smoking once the cigar was lit up.

"Pete's character is forced. Look at me! I'm the good time guy!"

Yeah, that's what it is. They try too hard to make him the comic relief and in the end just make him incredibly annoying. I actually find myself liking Pete less and less and Myka more, which is rare for me as there are few female characters I find likeable.

No, I've seen it. And you're right sadly. It was good to see Joe again, but other than that, it wasn't that great of an episode.

I also have to say I agree with your comment below about Pete - I too find myself liking Myka more and Pete less. His character is just a little too....something. Too forced, too happy-go-lucky, too trusting....I don't know. But it's not working for me.

Pete's character is forced. Look at me! I'm the good time guy!

So right! Just when he gets to be serious (which he's pretty good at), he says something off the wall. I roll my eyes; the character is becoming a walking cliche. I want more of his intuition! The spine ep made me feel all funny... like I wanted to write a fic. *gasp!*

Inquisition. An episode with amazing potential. I really wanted a fic that had John being exhausted by the questioning, maybe a truth serum of sorts used... Then he gets detained (not everyone), and Woolsey negotiates his return. Could someone get on that for me? I think someone wrote something along those lines... I'll have to look it up...

A show is going to really have to wow me for me to write any more fic. I think I'm getting jaded toward fanfic. I still ke writing SGA, and want to write some DR. Who 10th Doctor stuff, but under than that honestly hope I don't get pulled into any more fandoms (for one, fandoms are scary :P For another, my poor original fics need some love.) Pushing Daisies almost tempted me, then it was cancelled *hangs head sadly*.

"I really wanted a fic that had John being exhausted by the questioning, maybe a truth serum of sorts used..."

Gah! *swings a broom* Back, you evil plot bunnies, back!

Iseem to have the same reaction to WH13 as you. Loving Pete and Myka but Artie who I liked in the first ep is irritating me slightly. But that and Lie to Me are my latest shows. I watched this show just for CCH Pounder but Mrs Frederick is not in the show enough :P

I am finding Warehouse 13 to be quite good, it is witty it has strong characterisation and dialogue. And it kind of helps that the lead male is quite easy one the eye:D

The story arch is proving to be quite intriguing, but then i am a steampunk/chthullu fan. I am hoping for series 2...

As for JF smoking Cigars. I have several friends don't smoke, as in they are not addicted to cigarettes and do not as a general rule touch tobacco products. But on occasion they will smoke and enjoy a cigar. I have asked them why they do this even though they don't normally "smoke" (I myself being a committed non smoker as I don't understand the appeal, I find Th smell and taste to be rather offensive). What they have told me is, unlike other combustible tobacco products because cigars are made from the whole leaf of tobacco rather than cut up leaf bits then the smoke you get from them is much stronger and more raw than Cigarettes. You do not inhale the smoke into your lungs but hold it in your mouth and enjoy the taste/aroma, If you inhale you really know about it because it is very strong and make your lungs raw and nasty.

I have noticed a few people who are not "smokers" who enjoy a cigar once in a while in the same way that people like an expensive single malt whisky or a really good high quality chocolate.

Apparently also many actors learn how to "smoke" as it may be required for roles, even if they are non-smokers themselves (usually involving the mouth inhale/exhale technique) if the scene had to be repeated and JF isn't a big smoker then continuous smoking can and probably would make him go a bit green, the same way you feel ill if you're a non-smoker sitting in a room full of smokers...

WH13 keeps being hit or miss for me. there are days I really enjoy it, and days when I lose interest. I do think it's getting better as they go along, but thus far I think they're getting too focused on Myka (which seems to be the trend of many shows - to focus on the female lead.)

*Nods* Yeah. There are pics out there of Joe holding a cigar, but he's stated clearly that he's not a smoker as he doesn't want it to ruin his active lifestyle, so I figured that his use of cigars is more for show (he puffs, but he doesn't inhale.)

WH13 keeps fluctuating on me. Some days I like Pete more, some days Myka, some days Artie, dome days I hate one person and other days I hate another person. For that reason, though it is growing on me, if I miss an episode, it's no big deal.
