OMG! OMG! OMG! I want one! I want one of the doll people! They are so cute!

This movie is awesome.

Likes: That it didn't leave me feeling depressed. which was my biggest concern as apocolyptic movies tend to do that to me. But this movie is the right amount of everything - a touch of dark, a dash of cute, a few sweetly funny moments and a few sad moments. Overall, the mood of the story wasn't so much dark and depressing as somewhat bittersweet. there are plenty of sad moments, but over all, rather than leaving me feeling icky and down, it left me hopeful for the world and the characters involved.

And the characters - the doll people *loves!* I'm the biggest sucker for underdog heroes, and more so for the innocent hero, naive but not stupid, who basically saves the world not because some prophecy told them to, but because their friends are in danger and it's the only way to help them. They're scared, we know it, but they won't let that stop them from helping others.

The animation was great, the evil creatures wonderful and creepy. The actors who voice the characters were all an excellent choice.

Dislikes: Um... can't really think of any, actually. This movie pretty much satisfies on all fronts. It doesn't hold back any punches (when it says in the previews how it's not your little brother's cartoon, they mean it), but neither does it try to overwhelm with dark and dreary. So, really, there's nothing much - if anything - to dislike about it.

This is definitely a movie I highly recommend.

Sounds marvelous.
I would love to see it.
**sighs**
There are so many dreary films now...either slashers,
and I am speaking of it literally........or end of the
world disasters, and even many tv series are pointed that
way, or
bad sci fi..........

Remember the aliens were called 'prawns' (for their resemblance to, well, prawns). The son of the one was adorable.

I think you're talking about District 9. The movie I'm talking about is a computer animated film called 9, about living dolls that save the world.

Oh oh, *smacks self*! I definitely intend to see "9"... Just couldn't manage this past weekend. Hopefully this weekend, when it rains.
