I set aside the whining and drew this little ditty...

Which actually turned out how I pictured it a lot more than most of my pictures. I'm quite happy with it (though the wings I'm not sure about). I seem to be going through some kind of "dark" phase, since everything I want to draw seems to lean toward being creepy. I just finished drawing my own rendition of a horsefly which I can't post since it's for a contest, but it disturbed even me :/ (I'm not bragging, it really did.)

This has also been posted on Deviant.art but I'm pretty much getting no love over there except for the occasional fave. Which actually doesn't bother me as I've come across art that's blow-you-out-of-the-water good with not a single comment to show for it. Still, it can be a tad frustrating at times.

I like it very much. The color.........the wings are so graceful
Thank you for sharing it......
:-)

Thanks :D What I don't like about the wings is that they look like they're glued on, but I couldn't figure out how to fix that.

I wish I could describe what you could do for attaching them...........
I know exactly what would fix it but I am not sure how to describe it.....
All I can say is they should not be so abruptly attached.......perhaps
reaching down toward the ribcage for a flow rather than an abrupt attachment.
Does any of that make sense??? Perhaps someone who does artwork can describe
I took some art classes, human form and other, and our instructor in one class made the observation that I am trying to explain now........in order to give it more flow rather than abruptness.

It's one of those things where I know what I need to do but can't quite figure out how to do it. Though the more I look at it the more my mind toys with possibilities. Given time I should figure it out.

That is quite the creepiest unicorn/pegasus hybrid I've ever seen (and, since I collect unicorns, I've seen plenty). It's very well proportioned and eerily graceful. I'm impressed that you managed a skeletal effect for the tail and I love the misty effect around its feet.

Thank you :D I was actually iffy on the proportions myself, but went with it because its a creature of bad dreams, so the weirder the better ;) I was going to do something different with the tail, but decided to continue with the skeletal effect. I'm quite happy with the choice :D

Oh, very cool & creepy, and I like the slightly-antiquey feel to it.

Thanks :D I enjoy the occasional macabre. Not the heavy stuff with blood and too much death, but more dark things, shadowy things, what might be lurking under the bed or in dark forests and so on.

*jaw drops*

Wow! You CAN draw! See what you can do when you put your mind to it?

Thank you :D Horses come pretty easy as I've been drawing them for a while, and have a ton of horse books courtesy of my sister. Still, this is the first time something came out exactly as I imagined it.

And you think you can't draw? Seriously? No, seriously??

That is really pretty freakin' amazing. And from what I hear, horses (or horse-like creatures) are among the hardest things to draw.

I can draw, but I'm limited and can't draw the things I really want to the way I want to.

And thank you :D Horses are tricky, mostly especially getting their proportions just right. I always end up making them longer in the torso than they should be :/

Ooooh. That is beautiful and dark at the same time. Sort of creepy and sad. Great atmosphere to the whole look of the animal.

Thank you :D I'm really on a dark kick right now with my drawings, but I've been quite pleased with the results.

I love the sepia effect. It does make it ancient.

***nods*** the sepia definitely adds something to the entire look.
I really love sepia in art form.....

Thank you :) I loved old fashioned stuff, most especially when it's something creepy (the artwork of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, for example, has awesome creepy artwork).

I like your creepy but in general I don't do creepy :D

I like this. It has a macabre charming quality. A delicacy that makes this fantasy creature look harmless when feeding and imposing if threatened.

Also, I can see what you mean about the wings. Maybe a transition area between the ribs and the placement of the wings? But then, I can't draw except stick figures.

Anyway, this is beautiful.

Thank you :)

"Maybe a transition area between the ribs and the placement of the wings?"

Yeah, that was my issue, but I got lazy rather than tried to figure it out. I'm still not sure how to make that transition happen though I am starting to get ideas. If I stare at it long enough, it chould eventually come to me.
