Your Favorite Supernatural thriller?
Jul. 5th, 2010 07:03 pmI was just watching The Messenger - one of the few supernatural thrillers out there that doesn't rely on gore or being confusingly weird to be scary. It got me thinking about other movies that don't use blood and guts for a good scare. For me, my all time favorite scary movie is Watcher in the Woods, rated PG and made by Disney. It's a supernatural mystery with some excellent scary moments and not a drop of blood to show for it. Another favorite is The Lady in White, an excellent ghost story with a touching side.
I love a good scary movie, whether supernatural or not, but it's so hard to find any that doesn't end up squicking me in some way - either with gore or by trying to be all strange and psychological.
So what non-gory scary movie is your favorite? What would you recommend if someone is looking for something to watch on a dark and stormy night without having to put up with blood, guts or potentially being traumatized?
