White Collar - I'd told myself that I wouldn't get into reading White Collar fic, but I have. I must say, it's been rather enjoyable and I'm really surprised considering the bad luck I've had with other fandom ventures. WC has well written fic, lots of cute fic, excellent whump fic where many of the writers actually have fun with the whump rather than whip something quick and easy up just to get to the comfort. I think, though, that the reason why I have been having more luck with this fandom is because I've been very, very careful. It's weird, because I'm such an H/C and whump junky, yet with White Collar I don't want heavy H/C and whump, I don't want heavy angst. I want the fun of the show with a touch of whump. I want clever Neal, mouthy Neal, not horribly tortured beyond sanity Neal. I want an extension of the show, not elaborate interpretations. I wonder what that says about me :/

SGA - Yes, I'm still writing the amnesia fic and got a couple of hundred words down just the other day. It's currently slow going as I've entered difficult territory. Lots and lots of emotional whump ahead. Oh, poor John, what am I doing to you? I feel bad, I really do, and I'm not just saying that, for what I'm putting him through and about to put him through. This man needs a hug, seriously.

Original fic - also slow going, but in a good way. Every chapter needs an overhaul, and I manage about one chapter a week, if that. I love that it's really coming together, though, and that one of my main characters if finally starting to cooperate.

RL - We made a sort of play pen for out large rabbit, Boo. Poor thing has been cooped up in this tiny cage, but now she can hop around and even stand up.

What your WC interest tells me is you want canon fanfic. WC doesn't have much angst apart from the whole Kate thing (which kind of bores me). I love the whole fun part of the show :D
I've saved your previous post so I can check out some of the fic. Glad you asked the question!

"What your WC interest tells me is you want canon fanfic."

Pretty much :D It's such a fun show, and I adore clever, ornery, smart-alec characters like Neal. I want more of that. But I also think it shows how particular I've become in my reading. There's so much that I don't want to read, so much that I don't want to see the characters put through. I love Neal whump but don't want to read whump that would break him and leave him a different person, even though I adore such stories in other fandoms. And I think it's interesting that my preferences vary for different shows. I guess I didn't think they would :/

Although it may also be a matter of me being tired of reading stories where the characters are put in squicky situations. The Criminal Minds fandom kind of scared me off because I kept running into rape fic :P So I'm a heck of a lot more careful.

I love how the critics try to take the show seriously, 'they wouldn't get away with that!' :D I don't think the producers take it seriously, they're just having a good time.

It's not a show that I can see a lot of whump in. They edge close but one or the other always them out of the frying pan. Or Moz or Elizabeth or Diana or Jones! And I'm liking Sarah Ellis too. I don't think it started out as an ensemble show but it's rapidly changing into one!

Although it may also be a matter of me being tired of reading stories where the characters are put in squicky situations.

I find a lot of other fanfic leaves me like this. I don't need this sort of story in my unreal world, it's in the news enough. I just stick to certain areas where I know that the fic will be gen or like you did the other day, find someone who has some links.

Exactly. Which I think is another reason why I don't want to get into the heavy whump with this show. Although it's because the show is whump light that I've started writing fic, basically to satiate the craving. The whump they've had has been pretty good (loved Neal almost suffocating, poor boy :D), but it's few and far between and I have no patience ;). And it's been rather fun, I must say :D I love SGA to bits but it's nice to take a break and expand my horizons once in a while, to keep things from getting stagnant.

I am pleased you found something worthwhile. A friend told me you might have a hard time finding anything but slash.........which kind of annoys me given
there is so much storyline, at least the part I heard about, which would lend itself well to what you like reading............
**sighs**
but you know all of this already..........and I won't even comment on what I think about how they had hijacked the SGA characters.....

It is crazy slash heavy, but thanks to everyone's help I was able to go straight to well-written gen fic. And have been careful since. Of course, the sad part is that now I've run out of WC stories to read :P I think that's the quickest I've ever read through what a fandom has to offer. But, then, I honestly think I'm more interested in writing than reading. I've since written three more stories, all in one week! It's crazy. But new fandoms tend to be candy for the muses.

Don't worry, I still intend to write SGA fic :D
