Finally! I was able to start my Help_Pakistan story and got around 2000 words down. I was given an open prompt - anything goes as long as there's Shep whump. Should be easy, right? Er... not so much. I'd considered, then dumped, quite a few ideas before finally settling on the one I'm writing now. I was getting a little worried that I wouldn't come up with anything to write.
On the flip-side is my Holiday fic exchange story. I was quite excited about my prompt, because it fit perfectly with an idea that has been bopping around my head for a long time, one that I wasn't going to write because it was too complicated. But I've since replotted it and can finally put the idea to paper.

Oooh, complicated :D I love a good complicated story. My own story was complicated because it kept leaning precariously in a "poor woobie John whose team is being mean to him" direction that was hard to justify. I think shortening it - namely cutting out the parts that would have led to Team!Jerk and woobie John - has made the story doable. Not the deep, dark epic I wanted it to be, but doable.
