You must be reading my mind. ***grins broadly*** Last night when I saw an ad I immediately wondered if you have seen it There is also another one in advert?? A sequel? The dragon in the advert reminded me of Sheppard's black dragon...... Not sure why because this one is a bit more cuddly than I see Sheppard's black dragon who would be affectionate toward him but standoffish to others who approach..............
Isn't it just wonderful? *sighs happily* My dad can't believe I actually like it - says he's completely confused now about what my idea of a proper dragon consists of. But it's just too cute not to love.
I so want to read an SGA fusion with it, though. Because seriously, Toothless = Shep, Hiccup = Rodney would be awesome. I'm afraid I'm probably the only person whose mind works quite like that, though, so tis unlikely I'll ever actually find such a story. *sad* Still, thinking of it in that light just makes me grin all the more while watching the movie. ^.^

Oh, I can totally see that. Will ponder :D

the thing about dragon is that they're fantasy creatures so, really, just about anything goes as long as it's a large lizard that breathes fire. And I liked this movies mythology and the different kinds of dragons they had. Plus, it's a cartoon meant to be kid friendly, so of course they're going to make the dragons cute :D
That is one thing that's so fun about dragons - there's so much room for possibility there. One can equally enjoy, say, the huge, powerful, semi-scientifically-justified dragons of Naomi Novak's Temeraire books, and the adorable, huggable yet fierce ones from HTTYD. ^.^
And after listening the the filmmakers DVD commentary I have high hopes for the announced sequel. The same team is making the sequel (or almost the same, one of the directors has a conflicting commitment but even he is in a consulting role) and if the take the same level of care with the sequel than I see a another good film on the horizon.
