Title: Must be out of her Mind
Rating: G, gen
Characters: Diana, Mozzie
Warnings: Vague spoilers for Point Blank
Summary: What was she thinking? Diana-Mozzie friendship... sort of ;)

Must be Out of her Mind

She had no idea what she had been thinking, agreeing to this. Couldn't remember for the life of her what the motivation had been, all though she suspects it had a lot to do with seeing the mousy little man all pale and helpless lying in that hospital bed. That and the fact that it was possible said helpless little man was still in danger.

Neal couldn't take Mozzie in (and no matter how he tried to hide it, Diana could see how much it hurt him not to be able to help). The former con artist (well, sort of former con artist) was still just as much a potential target as Mozzie. Peter couldn't take him. Yes, El wouldn't have a problem, but Diana gave it three days before the little guy drove Peter off the bend. Plus neither one was home all that much. Jones, same reason - well, the latter reason. Jones was too laid back for even Mozzie to send over the edge.

So, for some reason Diana couldn't fathom, she somehow came to the conclusion that that left her, and volunteered.

Peter had been shocked, Jones amused, Neal amused and grateful (and not letting Diana forget how grateful he was), and Mozzie completely non-committal on the matter. Christie thought it adorable, the big tough FBI agent taking in the paranoid little con, so was all for it just for the entertainment value.

So here Mozzie was, propped up against a mound of pillows in the office turned guest room, his eyes wandering his surroundings with indifference.

"I suppose this is acceptable," he said. "You know, for a suit's place."

Diana supposed that was as close to a compliment as she was likely to get from him. "Thanks."

"Bugged, no doubt," he muttered.

"Yes, because every 'suit' bugs their own home, just for the hell of it."

"Ha! I was right."

"I was kidding."

He smiled a little too sweetly for comfort. "Sure you were."

Diana pinched the bridge of her nose, sighing heavily. Seriously, what the hell had she been thinking? "Do you want anything? Water? soup?" she added under her breath, "A sedative?"

"Any files you may have on the Kennedy Assassination would be nice."

Diana's hooded glare made him fidget.

"Though I suppose a glass of water will do."

She considered it a win and went to get the water. She tried to figure out - again - why she had agreed to this. Then remembered Neal's look of gratitude, how he kept thanking every time they ran into each other, Mozzie still, pale and helpless in a hospital bed and a killer still on the lose. She wondered when she had gone from hunting these con-artists to protecting them, even considering them friends (though the latter she would never admit out loud).

But it happened, she'd agreed to this, and would see it through.

Mozzie called, "Was that real silver in your China cabinet?"

Hopefully with her sanity intact.

the End

Title: The Joys of Friendship
Rating: G,gen
Characters: Peter, Neal
Warnings: Dialog only
Summary: "Peter, you're doing it wrong."

The Joys of Friendship

"Peter."

"What?"

"You're doing it wrong."

"I am not."

"You're supposed to fold the corners. It'll look much better."

"It looks just fine how it is."

"No, it doesn't. Trust me on this, Peter. I'm an artist, remember? I know what I'm talking about."

"Neal, for crying out loud, I'm wrapping a present not painting the Mona Lisa. There's no skill involved."

"You can say that again."

"What?"

"Nothing."

"There's no skill needed."

"There is if you want it to look nice."

"It looks fine. Besides, I don't think El's going to really care seeing as how she's more interested in what's inside the wrapping."

"That doesn't excuse shoddy workmanship, Peter."

"Neal..."

"Your wrapping style should compliment the gift."

"It's a new MP3 player, not a... don't make me use the Mona Lisa analogy again."

"Fine. You win. She's your wife, this is your wife's present. Wrap it how you want."

"Thank you."

....

"Peter."

"What?"

"You're taping it wrong."

The End.

Diana is awesome. Only the fact that Mozzie is already injured will prevent her from killing him, however (or at least seriously wounding him).

Would I be wrong to suspect that Peter is perhaps being sloppier than usual to annoy Neal?

It's a good possibility ;)
