It's a sad, sad fact that I can imagine almost anything... except spaceships. Seriously, I try to come up with my own spaceships for a sci-fi story and my head starts to hurt. I can come up with alien worlds, weird creatures and, heck, even robots. But I can't come up with my own spaceships :P
Trying to create my own space ships for stories actually makes my brain hurt :P Thank goodness for Deviant Art, that's all I've got to say (and, no, I'm not taking other people's ship concepts. It just helps to have a visual to go by when I'm trying to figure out my own space faring vessels. Makes my head hurt less;)).

People/creatures/cities are so much easier to envision, because you can at least base them on things you've actually seen in person. Spaceships...those things are intimidatingly foreign to try and wrap your mind around, especially when combined with the need to have characters say Technical Stuff. I am terrible at writing real or faked geek speak--which is one of the reasons writing for SGA and SG1 both intimidate me so much. :o
