Triumff: Her Majesty's hero - a swashbuckling adventure that may seem like it takes place around the 16-1700s thereabouts, but the years is actually 2010. Great Britain is run by Alchemy and superstition, and dashing swordsman Rupert Triumff has uncovered a plot against Queen Elizabeth XXX.

bookden, two words can best sum up this story - ridiculous fun. If you like Terry Pratchett and Douglas Adams then you may very well end up enjoying Triumff. It made me laugh, and few books - no matter how hard they try - make me laugh. I was quite sad that it was over, but overjoyed that it looks like there may be a sequel! This is the kind of book that I would love to see made into a movie. This is the kind of book that should be made into a movie.
Two things I should warn for, though: the author is fond of big words and info-dumpy digressions. There were times when the author almost lost me, but I chalk most of that up to me being not British and not a history buff. Still, have patience for the first couple of chapters, where the bulk of the info dumps lies (the books starts off with a very lengthy description of the rain). I promise that the more you read, the better it gets.
