I've come to the conclusion that I really am more fantasy than sci-fi. Which is ironic seeing as how my original fics started out as mostly science-fiction, and fantasy I wouldn't go anywhere. Once I got into fantasy the semi-opposite happened. I was thinking up less sci-fi and more fantasy. And even my sci-fi stuff has a wee smidgen of fantasy... if you squint and tilt your head just so.
Out of the sci-fi stories I've thought up there are only five that I really, really like - Black Dragon being one of them. I'm not even going to try and count how many fantasy stories I have.
But not in terms of writing, I love both equally.
Anyways, this has nothing to do with anything. Just me pondering out loud. Back to writing the slave fic.

I'm not sure, really, but I'm also not reading as much sci-fi as I used to. (Unless you count sga fanfic, which I don't, since most of them don't really explore that side of the world they're playing in.)
Funny how tastes change, isn't it?

Date: 2007-08-27 09:04 pm (UTC)From:My favorite sci-fi stuff has always been movies and TV shows. I've tried reading sci-fi books but they were always so dang boring, too hung up on being philosophical and making absolutely no freakin sense. I've read a couple of good Sci-fi books but the pickings are rather slim for me. As for writing it, sci-fi is sci-fi because it deals with science, and I've never been good at science. I love space adventures but writing about the technology scares me.
But, dang it, I still love it enough to write it anyways.
