Like the title says, this is a list of White Collar hurt/Comfort stories that I've enjoyed. All stories will be gen and, because I'm a Neal fan, mostly Neal centric. However, though it is a personal list I am more than open to others rec'ing me gen H/C stories they've enjoyed. In fact, it would help me a lot.

A few guidelines however.

1. The story needs to be well written. Not necessarily perfect, but the fewer spelling and grammatical errors the better.

2. The story needs to be realistic. Again, it doesn't have to be perfect, but if one character is giving CPR to another character while his heart is still beating or they're suddenly over an injury that should take weeks to heal from (for example), then I don't want it.

3. Stories need to be complete. I don't care how good that WIP is, stuff happens and you can't always trust a story to be completed.

4. Because this is a personal list, not every story rec'd to me will be my cup of tea, therefore may not end up on the list. Please do not feel offended as it's a matter of personal taste and should not be interpreted as quality control or a reflection of the author's skills.

5. Gen only stories (though mention of canon pairings are okay as long as they are not the focus of the story. Het, slash, OT3, pre-het, pre-slash or slashy subtext I don't want).

6. I don't mind stories with Peter whump as long as there's a little Neal whump or Neal angsting to the point that it affects his health in some way.

--------------------------------------

Part and Parcel, Partner by Mojave Dragonfly - Neal is injured and overwhelmed with pain while using his skills to rescue innocents. Peter helps.

Working Lunch by Mojave Dragonfly - Don't you hate it when someone steals your lunch from the break room refrigerator? So does Agent Ruiz.

Left by The Common Denominator - Peter has to be away from the office for a while, and comes back to find his partner changed.

Three Kinds of Hell by TJ-Teejay - With Peter incapacitated, Neal is assigned a temporary new handler. Running through the city and spending evenings at various hospitals starts taking its toll on Neal.

Pain Relief by TJ-Teejay - Pain relief comes in all shapes and sizes. Sometimes it's a pill, sometimes just the simple act of having friends there to care for you.

Bouncing Back by TJ-Teejay - Another illegal back room operation, it had seemed so straightforward. Neal had done this a number of times. Maybe they were getting sloppy, but this one hadn't quite turned out the way Neal (or anyone) had expected.

Expendable by Nefhiriel - Sometimes Neal need to be reminded of what's expected of him--and what's not.

Collateral Damage by Nefhirel - There's more than one way to punish a thief—and right now Neal would much rather be safely in prison.

Reliance by Nefhiriel - “Don't sweat it, Peter. Twenty-three hours a day in a windowless five-by-nine cell is really a pretty cozy setup once you get used to it.” Neal smiled over-brightly in the face of Peter's sternest look. “Really, there's no place like home sweet ad-seg.”

“This isn't some white-collar criminal resort, Neal.”

“Oh. Can I get transferred to one?”

The Surface by Poorfenny - Neal's anklet drags him down...

Live by the Currents, Plan by the Tides by Imbecamiel - Peter and Neal meet up with a suspect at a nice, secluded little spot on the shore. Things don't quite go as planned.

Titan of Industry by Kiki Cabou - Neal reveals an unusual hobby during a stakeout, and it enriches his life in amazing and amusing ways.

Concurrent by Swanpride - Peter wasn't really worried when Neal didn't come at his usual time. After all, even the most punctual person got delayed once in a while...right?

Trapped by Rainey13 - The trust between Peter and Neal was shattered at the end of "Under the Radar." So when a new case goes wrong will they be able to work together to resolve it?

Trust and Verify by Rainey13 - he Department of Justice is in town, and the lead agent is not a fan of criminal consultants. Neal's been warned to toe the line until the inquiry is done, but sometimes circumstances just don't leave many choices... Set mid-Season 1

Storm Warning by Rainey13 - A stormy winter night leads Peter and Neal to re-evaluate how they deal with each other.

Anchored by Ariadnes_string - (recc'er summary) Neal gets sick, anklet is removed, Peter comforts.

Rematch by Sam_storyteller - Crossover with the BBC's Sherlock Holmes, of which I have never seen, only heard about. "Neal and Sherlock's rematch in London was the high point of the International Law Enforcement Conference -- until Neal's tracker went dark." There is a part one to this story but I didn't include it in the list due to slashy undertones. A link to the first story, however, is provided in this story.

Nor' Easter by Bella_harvest - A harmless game of pickpocketing turns into a race for Peter's life. Part of the "Shirts and SKins" series. Warning for canon het at the beginning of the story (which I mostly skimmed over myself).

Tailspin by Bella_harvest - Neal is involved in a gallery heist that threatens Elizabeth Burke's life. Part of the "Shirts and Skins" series. A Jossed scenario so could be considered AU.

Mea Culpa and it's prequel Fragile by Tinnuial - Neal is missing and Jones thinks about how it all went wrong. An op goes south. Jones observes the aftermath.

five times Peter Burke didn't Arrest Neal Caffrey by Doctor_Fangeek - The title pretty much is the summary. Features a bit of both Neal!Whumpage and Peter!Whumpage.

The Sum of its Parts by Mr. Wubbles - Bit by bit, it all adds up for Peter.

Hands Open by Jumpfall - Peter slips the Kevlar vest over Neal's head, tightening the straps and checking the fit. "It's a violation of your parole if you get yourself shot. So don't."

Sign Language for Cop by Onyourmark - Combat training hasn't killed Neal yet, but Quantico is a little tougher on him than Peter was. Sequel to "Cling Eastwood's Best Moves", which I didn't include due to it being more Peter whump and due to some slashy-subtext.

Fortunate Son by Gaelicspirit - Caught in the demolition of an abandoned building, Peter and Neal are hurt, trapped, and running out of time. But it's in those moments they realize that it's not enough to know what someone is. To learn who they are, they have to ask the big questions.

One cold Night by Takada Saiko - Kate breaks down and asks Peter for help as Neal gets sicker and sicker. Pre-series.

Suspect by Mouse8 - Neal is arrested for murder.

Stolen voice by Katikat - Neal's a Non-Human in a society with deep prejudices against mutants. Peter's determined to keep him out of the hands of the NCB authorities - AKA shameless protective!Peter fic ;)

Secondbreath by Neontiger55 - Neal isn’t sure whether an identity crisis is inevitable in his line of work, or a sign of how far he’s fallen.

Ooo, very good idea! I'll have to go through my bookmarked stories and see if I've got anything that might catch your interest... ^.^

And thanks so much for the rec of my story! <3

You're welcome :D

And, yes, please contribute! It's so hard to find gen whump fic of the kind you want to reread. In fact, I don't know why I didn't do this sooner.

Have you ever read my story ConCurrent? http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6318749/1/ConCurrent

Oh, excellent :D I'm not always a big fan of "Keller gets revenge on Neal!" as that trope is mostly used to torture Neal for the sake of it. But I really liked what you did in your story, the intensity of it, the mind-games Keller was playing (you really nailed him as the creep he is) and above all that your story actually had a plot, and an interesting one ;)

Thanks you! *tries to look modest and totally fails* I agree, it's difficult to find good Keller stories. Or good kidnapping stories in general.

Thank you so much for featuring my stories. *blushes* I'm gonna have to check out the other ones. I'm sure I've read a number of them, but I think there's still one or two that I haven't. So I better get on it. :o)

You're welcome :D I'm going to update this every so often as I find more stories, so keep watching.

I am under the weather, was craving some WC h/c, and stumbled upon your rec list.

THANK YOU.

*scurries off to read*

You're welcome. I'm going to keep adding stories as I come across them so there should always be something to read.

Wow, I'm totally flattered to have a story on your rec list amongst some great fic. I've read most of these, but there's a few I haven't. Thanks so much for sharing!
Also, if you haven't already, you should check out stories by Rainey13 (http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2540098/Rainey13) on FFN, particularly "Trapped" and "Trust and Verify". They're pretty good, imo, and they meet your guidelines. :D

Date: 2011-04-30 08:37 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Thanks :D I read Trust and Verify (which I will be adding) but haven't read trapped.

Really nice rec list. Thank you for the work.

Finally had time to start sorting through some of my bookmarks! I'll probably have more possible recs as I go along, but for starters -

Mea Culpa (http://tinnuial.livejournal.com/2553.html#cutid1) and the follow-up, Fragile (http://tinnuial.livejournal.com/1001.html#cutid1)

Five Times Peter Burke Didn't Arrest Neal Caffrey (http://doctor-fangeek.livejournal.com/2154.html) - mostly just fun Peter and Neal interaction, but there's some whumpy stuff at the end.

The Sum of it's Parts (http://mrwubbles.livejournal.com/49490.html)

How to Save a Life (http://whitecollarfic.livejournal.com/200431.html#cutid1) - a post-anklet story. I'm really not sure that I'd want things to play out this way in-series... but something about the author's approach here really intrigues me.

Hands Open (http://jumpfall.livejournal.com/23302.html#cutid1)

Dunno if you've read them already, but as I don't see 'em on the list... :3

Date: 2011-05-07 04:47 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Thanks so much. I have read them but either forgot about them or couldn't find them. I'll be adding them to the list, soon (but right now, need to go to bed :/ *iz tired*).

Got a few more recs for you to check out. :3

Never Knew What Hit Him (http://whitecollared.livejournal.com/9195.html#cutid1)

Storm Warning (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6729327/1/Storm_Warning)

Impulse (hhttp://www.fanfiction.net/s/5729411/1/Impulse)

A Corner on the Limbo Market (http://archiveofourown.org/works/165258)

We Had A Deal (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/6438542/1/We_Had_A_Deal)

Alcohol and Convicts (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5819767/1/Alcohol_and_Convicts)

There were a couple of others that I really wanted to rec as well, but for the life of me I can't remember where I bookmarked them now. Or where I found them to begin with. *sighs* It's driving me crazy. :P

Date: 2011-05-26 03:02 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
The link to Impulse refuses to work. As for the rest... um... er... I'll be honest, they're not bad stories or anything but weren't really my cup of tea. Well, except Storm Warning, I liked that one.

Date: 2011-05-26 03:51 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] imbecamiel.livejournal.com
Hmm, odd, not sure what happened there. Let me see if I can get a something that'll work for that one... http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5729411/1/Impulse - not so pretty, but should work this way.

And hey, no worries, I'm not offended at all if you don't care for them. *g* I'm pretty sure you've already read most if not all of the stories I'd consider my favorites for the fandom - at least the ones I can currently find links to. (Eh, to be honest, you've written a lot of the ones at the top of my list, soo.... XD). So I just thought I'd point out any possibilities you might've missed as long as I was sorting through trying to find stuff. :3

I've been meaning to thank you for putting my stories on here! It's always a pleasant surprise to run into your own name on a rec list. XD Really honored.

Aaand...I'm not sure if this story (http://archiveofourown.org/works/77155) would be your cuppa tea, or not (mutant/x-men-esque!Neal). I wish there were more, 'cause the angst potential is tantalizing.

Oh, and thanks, to, for introducing me to that Sherlock x-over. I adored it.

I remember that one! I really liked it. I have a bit of a weakness for the occasional X-Men crossover/fusion ;)

Hey, I was rereading some of my favorite h/c and thought you might be interested in Alone Dreaming (http://fanfiction.net/u/544366/)'s stuff on FFN, specifically 'Dogs and Socks' and 'Black and White and Red All Over'. They're cool trippy little fics with healthy portions of h/c.
