I'm starting to have a few second thoughts about volunteering at the Humane Society. We only have one car between three people (currently two people as my mom is out of town), and though it may not sound like a big deal, my sister has a rather sporadic schedule. Her work hours depend mostly on when her workplace calls her in. She has a horse she has to feed twice a day and another horse that she's fostering. She also buys her own food, so sometimes needs the car for that. Then there's my mom. She has a truck but it sucks to drive, and she prefers the car to go grocery shopping and give people who don't have a car (or can't drive one) a ride.

Trying to figure out a schedule for me to go in to the HS is going to be a pain. Technically I can go in whenever I'm able, but I'd rather have a set time and day. For one, it's polite. For another, I like consistency. I thrive on it, in fact, and can get pretty stressed and irritable when thing start getting spontaneous. Once my mind is set on something, it's set. I had really wanted to go into the HS today, to get to know the place and get comfortable before the interview when I would get my entrance code and name tag. But due to lack of better communication and my sister needing today to run some errands, that doesn't look like it's going to happen.

Friday is also iffy since my sister works. But the HS stays open later on that date. I wold prefer going in during the day than the evening but for the sake of getting started I may have to make an exception for now.

What I would like to do is go in Tuesdays and Thursdays from one to four (probably less depending on who needs the car). But it could very end up being that I go in whenever I can. Yeah, this is going to be interesting :P (so much stress over wanting to go in and love some needy kitties).

I assume then that there is no public transport??
If there isn't, been there, done that, right here in Washington County
The nearest would be fine if we did not live in an area where the weather is
so hostile so much of the year...........
And they are always crying about how many are NOT using mass transport.

We have it but to be honest I think using it would end up more of a hassle than scheduling when to use the car. I also don't like buses - sitting there forever as I wait to get to a stop I could have driven to myself a long time ago. If this were a matter of getting to a paying job, okay, then I would use it. For volunteer work at a place that isn't a stickler about when you come in? Probably not worth it.

Even in a paying job it would be very very trying given that once you reach the bus route it is an hour into town, which is 20 miles from here.
I find it all so annoying.
