Most have a certain type of music they're drawn to: rock, hard rock, metal, rap, jazz, pop (in the case of my sister, Korean pop) so on and so forth. I was never particular myself, drawn to whatever happened to catch my fancy at the time. But I think I've finally found my type. I'm not sure what you would call it (I'm not good with identifying music genres), and the best way I can describe is that every time I hear it it always makes me think of the '20s and '40s. There's just something old fashioned and unique about it, and I love it.

Music like The Hush Sound or this which you'll recognize from the Heineken commercial.

It's not the only type I'll listen to - I'm still incredibly diverse when it comes to music - just a type I really hope to find more of.

Really liked Medicine Man. I like most types. It really depends on the song itself. I like anything from ACDC to JJ Grey and Mofro, to Adele, to Steve Jablonsky (Great for trailer vids).

Have you tried Pandora? Type your favorite artist/band in and it'll generate like songs. It's wonderful!

Definitely. It has to hit you just right. Some singers or bands will write songs that nine out of ten I'll like, and singers and bands who only write one song I love while the rest I'm meh about.

Type your favorite artist/band in and it'll generate like songs.

I need to try this. I've been looking for a new artist forever but it's not exactly easy when you don't know who writes what kind of songs.

Aw, I really loved the Hush sound, so thanks for pointing me to the band:-)

I think most people are diverse in music (myself included) I mean, I like a good song from almost any genre (sans opera lol) but I don't like a song just because of a genre. And my taste varies pretty much depending on my current mood too, lol.

Yes. Same with bands. I may like a particular band but that doesn't mean I like every song by that band.

For me I think the only genre that just never really does it for me is country. It's not that there's anything wrong with country (I used to listen to it in fact), it's simply no longer my thing.

"...whatever happened to catch my fancy at the time"

***NODS***
It all depends.....
I am in a mood currently for music by D'jango Reinhardt
Yesterday it was Clannad while I was in my car.....
It changes day to day and runs the gambit of classic rock, classical, folk,
country, big band, new age etc. and when I am on the computer I normally listen to
'Soundscapes' which is an audio channel courtesy of ComCast.

A lot of what I like depends on A) how it makes me feel and B)what kind of stories/scenes they can inspire. I rely a lot on music when thinking up stories, which is why I really love soundtracks as they're great for individual scenes within a story (yeah, all about the stories with me :/). Songs are good for thinking up the story as a whole (sort of like watching a movie preview or vid).
