Why do you divide me so? Don't get me wrong, I love Suits, but while it manages to press a lot of my squee buttons it's also been pressing a lot of my not-squee buttons. The big one, I think, is the treatment of Mike - not by Harvey because I understand Harvey's position and we know he cares about the kid - but everyone else. Which, yes, I know, it's a law firm, lots of rivalry, lots of back-stabbing, Lewis is a jerk to everyone, so on and so forth, but the thing is I have a bit of a mass-bullying squick. I just cringe when it seems like a group of people are ganging up on a single person. It's why I don't like humor fic where the humor is at the expense of a single person. I just... can't stand it. And Suits does it in spades, and it's uncomfortable more often than not.

It's helped that Mike finally found a kind-hearted and constant ally in his girlfriend (blond girl, forget her name) but now it looks like the show is going to sabotage it for the sake of eventually getting Mike with Rachel. This, too, I hate. Love triangles annoy the crap out of me and, I'm sorry, but I still don't like Rachel. Her unstable self-esteem and self-confidence does not make her good for Mike. One minute she's his friend, the next she's not, she tells him she can't date him, then kisses him giving Lewis fodder to make Mike's life even more miserable and it's made me like Rachel even less.

Oi, Suits. You're testing me, you really are. It's mostly the love-triangle deal I'm worried about at this point, because it's once a show starts getting into love-triangles that it gets unpleasantly stressful. Haven is doing the same thing, only with a love... er... quadrangle? Square? Three guys, one girl... seriously? *headdesk* This is one reason of many why I'm not a big romance fan, and have come to dislike OCs. For those who believe the dislike of female OCs stems from them being women - wrong. It's because when an OC, man or woman, steps in as a love interest, things get messy, and it's obnoxious.

All of that.

It's interesting that I've found a show with so much I like and so much I dislike.

**NODS**
I find it tedious and annoying.............as well as demeaning and
dismissive
None of them are so far superior that they are entitled IMO
and while we are discussing personalities that are annoying, I also
must agree about Rachel.

However, I also feel compelled to admit I don't like Harvey.
A little of Harvey goes a long way for me, much like McKay did in SGA.

I like Harvey and I get that he has to harangue Mike to keep him on top of the game, but I'm really hoping that as the season progresses we get a little less of that each time. I'm really hoping that which each season we get to see Mike excel, and that it isn't season after season of Mike screwing up and Harvey giving him condescending advice.

And... I kind of want Rachel to leave. It's rare for me to really dislike any character but every time Rachel redeems herself she turns around and does something that puts her back in a bad light. I think she would be an interesting character if the brunt of her personal issues wasn't being taken out on Mike, because Mike has his own problems he has to deal with and Rachel adds to those problems just as much as she helps remedy them. Not only that, he deals with his own problems better than Rachel does hers, and it's making Rachel come off as somewhat of a spoiled brat.

I am a bit burned out already with it.............

"I kind of want Rachel to leave."

**high fives you**
Perhaps Louis can dig up some dirt on her
;-)

I so agree...I would never thought that I would say that, but I dislike Rachel even more than Sara. That's quite a feat.

I'm glad that in the last episodes, Mike became at least a little bit competent. The first episodes were painful in that regard, with him screwing up all the time and getting shit from everyone for it. I would have wished that he used his con man abilities a little bit more at the mixer, but at least his crazy memory became useful for once. And I loved Harvey defending him towards Jessica (although I do wonder why he took the risk to hire him in the first place).

Jenny, who inicially came over as very naive, really redeemed herself by now. I already loved her in the episode in which she came to Mike's aid and reminded him that "stick in the butt"-behaviour is simply not him. Last episode she was pure fun.

But Rachel?
Her attitude is simply grating. I think her talk about her underwear and sexual experience is supposed to be sexy, but it weirds me out nearly as much as Lewis "locker room talk", and she comes over as very cheap. But last episode just took the cake. After all the talk about their relationship being impossible, now she suddenly makes a move, after learning that he is interested in another woman? Riiiiight....

And you are right - I mean it would be okay if Rachel would need Mike's help all the time, but she isn't even thankful for his help. I still wish that he would have gone for the kill in the fake trial - yeah, I know, that isn't Mike, but after all the shit she gave him for providing a service SHE wanted to use (who is worse, the one offering or the one who actually cheats?), she so deserved to be taken a peg down.

I really don't get what Rachel's deal is. She's just so... neurotic. Now, if the show is actually going somewhere with this other than to make Mike's love-life complicated then I'm curious to see where they take it. But if they wrote her this way simply to create a complicated love scenario then they need to rethink their strategy because it's not doing Rachel any favors. I don't often say this, but I honestly think the show would be more enjoyable without her.

Which is the third non-squee button being pushed. Suits is the first show with a character that I just can't stand.

It's my second, but USA-Network has generally a talent to much up romances lately. *sigh*
