Does anyone remember the name of a cartoon that was a sci-fi western? It had this sheriff who had powers so that when he said things like "strength of the bear" he would get super strength. He had a cyborg horse that could go from all fours to standing upright like a human and the bad guy kind of reminded be of Skeletor from He-man (in fact it was very much like a sci-fi remake of He-man, I swear). And instead of mining gold, they mined this red crystal stuff.

My mom and I loved this cartoon. We even have some of the toys based on it, but neither of us can remember what it's called.

And while we're at it does anyone remember the cartoon that was about these talking horses that lived in another dimension or something? They were different colors (like red, blue, green, etc) but the leader was a black stallion and this girl would travel to this world to help them out (No, it's not My Little Pony). The bad guy was some kind of zebra centaur.

I've been so nostalgic, lately. I watched Unico which I haven't seen since I was six and the other day watched The Secret of NIMH after having not watched it for years (though I still love it). I've also been tempted to seek out other old favorites but decided I'd better pace myself. The older stuff seems to send my imagination through a time warp.

No, that's not it. They didn't do any space travel in this one that I recall.

I think the second one might be Wildfire. I remember the first one, but I don't remember what it was called, either.

That definitely has to be it :D Thank you so much. It was one of my favorites but to watch it meant getting up at horrible o'clock in the morning on a Saturday, so I missed most of it :/

Secret of NIMH is easily one of the best animated movies ever made - a real cult classic.

I know :D I love Don Bluth animations.

Depends....Secret of NIMH, The land before time, An American Tail: All time classics
Anastasia, All dogs go to heaven, Titan AE: Quite good, definitly worth a rewatch
Everything else: Please, no! I especially will never forgive that he ruined Thumbelina! It's one of my favourite fairy tale, the one I was always wishing Disney would make one day (aside from Rapunzel, and boy, do I love Tangled!), and I'm sure, after this travesty, Disney won't touch the theme with a long stick.

Yeah, Thumbelina :P Gotta wonder what went wrong there. It was so... weird, like they were in a rush to make it or something. Rock-a-doodle kind of freaked me out, too.

But, for me, between Thumbelina and that sequel some company did of Snow white, I think Thumbelina the lesser evil. The Snow White sequel was nauseating.

What with remakes being all the rage (and because I believe Thumbelina didn't do well in theaters) I think the story still has a chance. Disney could totally do their own version if they wanted

Those low budged productions and rip-off mostly didn't even made it into the theaters. Thumbelina on the other hand did and it's well known enough, being a Don Bluth movie. So I doubt that Disney will take it up anytime soon.

I think he tried too much to copy Disney in this one - I mean there is really every Disney Cliche imaginable, from the opening book, to the frame story with the narrator, to the "I want" song, to the love song (in a sequence which looks very much copied from Aladdin), up to the falling villain and the death hero who is alive after all. There is no creativity at all in this (though I like some of the songs - just not in the context).
