kriadydragon: (Obi-Wan)
Oi, the past couple of months has felt like one big battle with my allergies, and now it's turned into a battle of staying ahead of my allergies. The thing is, I swear they get a little worse, and are a little different, each year. You may recall complaints I've made concerning health issues, how I didn't know if it was allergies or food making me sick. I had a sour stomach that wouldn't go away, with the occasional feeling of light nausea on the side, and something that seemed determined to be a headache, couldn't quite reach that point, but caused me grief anyway.

Turns out it was allergies. I started taking an allergy pill every night before bed, and soon the icky feeling finally cleared up. I was rather shocked, because I didn't know allergies could do that to you. Now if I don't stay on top of my allergies the sour stomach and throbbing head tries to come back with a vengeance.

Does anyone else suffer odd symptoms when it comes to their allergies? Symptoms other than a runny nose and stuffed up head and sneezing?

Ironic because two nights ago I saw a report that THIS is going to be the (((((((worst)))))))) season for allergies.......
CDC stated why, but cannot remember now what the reason is...
I have been dealing with it for a week now............for past two days my sight has been rotten.......I even thought it was my glasses day before yesterday and cleaned them off. NO, just my frappin' eyes..........

Ugh, I hate it when it screws up your vision. It's doing that to me right now (feels like my eyeballs are drying out).

Usually my allergies aren't so vicious but I made the mistake this year of not heading them off. Usually if I start taking allergy pills while the symptoms are light then the allergies aren't so bad. But I didn't and now it feels like my allergies are trying to kill me.

**NODS**
What you describe is apparently what they mean by 'WORST' season.
My eyes feel like they have a film.....blurred and annoying.
It has also invaded my nose and irritated it.......
Just icky in general.....

Wow, strange. I have a lot of allergies, mostly with food and they rotate, meaning the same food doesn't always cause allergy. The symptoms are always rash that can cover the entire body according to how severe. There was this week that I was allergic to Coke. I kept on drinking and taking allergy pills and one day it vanished. The doctor said I just have to live with it since I'm not allergic to any specific substance. It depends on how my body is feeling like at the moment... My body is crazy...

Oh, wow. That sucks :( I was starting to wonder if I had food allergy issues since the upset stomach kept dragging out. I'm still not sure, though some foods do make my mouth itch like crazy.

Is it similar kinds of foods? Because I know people who basically have sensitive skin inside their mouths and if they eat certain things, like pretzels and chips for some people, or acidic foods like oranges for others, it just irritates them. (Somehow, all my family and many of my friends have moderate to severe allergies)

When I had food allergy issues (actually, allergies to a food dye, which was so ironically found in the pink coloring in the Benadryl tablets I'd take), it was less my mouth itching, and more the skin under my chin and neck starting to itch and break out. Most non-food allergies give me hay fever symptoms, except my dust allergy is so strong that just skin contact will cause hives - in other words, I could tell my mom that yes, it just might kill me to clean my room ;-)

The itching mouth thing is kind of new for me so I have no idea. Seems to just be part and parcel to my allergies being heavy-handed.

Oh, I actually found it pretty amusing, because it was easy enough to avoid... and fortunately I've been getting allergy shots since then (more or less) so I can handle cleaning now.

Besides the runny nose, the itchy/runny eyes, wheezing (more than usual)? Because of all the drainage (why does that always sound so nasty?), I keep getting ear infections. I never got ear infections as a child, but then I didn't develop allergies until I was in my twenties. The ear infections are something that started within the last 3 years.

A weird thing that happens when I run out of my pills and don't get a new batch within 2 days: my forearms and boobs start itching. Nowhere else itches, just those places. This is also something that has started within the last couple years. Very weird.

Allergies are so weird. I didn't get them until I was in my twenties as well and they just seem to get not only worse but unique. The stomach thing just started this year, right out of the blue, and for a while I thought I'd eaten something that had gone bad, but the discomfort just kept dragging out.

Usually if I can head my allergies off then they're not so bad but if I don't they're hideous and take for ever to get to where they're tolerable.

I really feel your pain. I've got asthma on top of the allergies and this years seems like the worst. I've been a prisoner in my house for a week and then my nephew brought me a cold he'd gotten from school. I was just getting routine in my workouts too.

Nothing seems to help.

Allergies, Asthma and a cold? Ugh :S Nature is bound and determined to make us miserable.

Well, I've been on the edge of being in anaphylactic shock before (I'm allergic to dust and I had gone too long without cleaning my room, then I tried to clean it...), but I don't think that counts as "odd symptoms" so much as "extreme symptoms". I do know some people who have allergy-induced migraines, though.

Allergies aren't just weird, they're vicious :S

Interesting since I ended up with a migraine when my allergies were making me sick, but it may have been stress induced.

Seizures, narcolepsy, gastrointestinal distress, muscle spasms, muscular pain, blurred vision, fogginess, fainting spells caused by a sudden drop in blood pressure, asthma, anaphylaxis, raynauds flare ups, rashes, migraines... all triggered by allergic reactions connected to my immune disease. And my allergies are strange too. I'm sensitive to my own progesterone for one thing, and I'm violently allergic to all forms of sulfur, and I'm so allergic to pumpkins that I can't grocery shop if one is in the store, and I have a short list of foods I'm allowed to eat, and they all have to be organic, and there's the time the outgassing shower curtain made me throw up every time I went into the guest bathroom for three years...

My two biggest symptoms -- vertigo and extreme tiredness. It sucks and it took a doctor telling me it was allergies (and I was skeptical) and realizing the bouts of vertigo came 2x a year, fall and spring, almost without fail. Now I keep two pills on hand. Allergy and motion sickness.

I'm wondering if I may be getting vertigo issues as seem to keep being hit by these dizzy spells.

I'm also starting to wonder if I actually have a cold :/

Hey. Hope all fellow allergy sufferers are doing okay. I get flu-like symptoms, body aches, fever, and frequent migraines. Sometimes I get dark circles around my eyes; it looks as if somebody punched me.

Kriadydragon, did you find a beta for the gen story?
