kriadydragon: (Monty Python)
I'm going to be so sore in the morning, and tomorrow is when I head into the Animal Shelter.

Mine was a most interesting B-day today. For weeks, now, I approached my B-day with only a few presents in mind - White Collar season 2, A-Team season three and some weights. Instead I get a fish tank, a new desk in order to accommodate said fish tank (soon to have fish come Wednesday), and A-Team will have to wait until Christmas. White Collar 2, however, has just been ordered.

Then I spent all day putting together said desk, which required the use of a loooooot of muscle, and I'm going to pay, I just know it. But, dang it, it was worth it, and I'm glad I let my mom talk me into it. Not only is my writing area no longer horribly cluttered (a drawer and cubbies, yay!) it won't squeak to drive me insane when I type. It also looks so much nicer.

But, yeah, I know what you're going to say - putting together a desk isn't exactly any way to spend a birthday. But we did do fun things, I promise, like go out to eat and watch Thor. To be honest, it was all quite a pick-me-up, even putting the desk together (the feral cats who I feed all came into the garage and hung out with me. They may be shy but they're so cute!) I woke up in one of those "oh, crap, I'm another day older what have I accomplished!" moods and I wasn't feeling too festive (normally I love my B-day). But then we headed to Wal-Mart, got the fish tank, got the desk and I was feeling much better. No, I'm not one of those people who feels temporarily better when I buy things. I think it was more a wish coming true deal, because I have been wanting fish for a while but never got any because I had no place to put them. Now not only do I have a place to put them, I have a better place to type at to boot!

I also made the decision to make more of an effort to find contentment in the here and now, and enjoy what is rather than worry about what should be (hope that makes sense). I'd probably accomplish a lot more if I did.

Happy belated Birthday!

Glad it was a good one... albeit productive! :)

Thanks :D

Maybe a little too productive. I'm gonna be stiff come morning :/

True, but hard work is good for the soul too. Eh, who am I kidding, any sort of manual labour results in stiff, protesting muscles. My sympathies!

Darn, I wanted to send you a birthday wish yesterday, but then I forgot when my friend came over and we went out. So: Happy belated Birthday! Sounds like you had your hands full. But as long as it was all fun, that's perfect.

Thanks! :D

Heh, it was fun up until I kind of screwed up a little when I was so close to finishing the dek. But what's putting something together without a mistake or two ;) We managed to work it out by getting a little creative ;)

Damn, I forgot it was your birthday, sorry yesterday was a difficult day for me.

So happy belated birthday, glad you had a nice day, sometimes just feeling like you're doing something positive can be a pick me up.

What kind of fish are you getting?

Oh, no worries. I really don't expect people to be aware of such things since I never am (I am so horrible at paying attention to people's B-days). I wouldn't have even said anything if I hadn't found it rather ironic that I spent most of my B-day building a desk I pretty much got out of the blue. Talk about "didn't see that coming" ;)

I really want to get some neons. I love neons but they're so dang small they always get sucked up into the filter. But with this tank that shouldn't be a problem.

Happy belated to you! I actually miss having fish. They are very relaxing to listen to and to watch. Enjoy them!

Watching fish swim is the best and I'm so excited to have some, again.

I also made the decision to make more of an effort to find contentment in the here and now

I heard someone say last night "it is what it is"
about things in life
I love that notion
It makes it easier for me in some way to deal with my situation
too 'it is as it is"
It never can return to what it was before.

My issue is worrying about the future when there isn't much I can do about it, and I'm tired of it. Things will happen when it is time for them to happen, and as long as I'm doing the things I should be then I know I have no reason to worry.

My issue is worrying about the future when there isn't much I can do about it

I think 'it is what it is' would work there also only it will be
might be the wording............
God has my hand so that is covers the future for me.
It is dealing with the daily regiment that at times frustrates me

You got a new desk & fishies! :)

On Sunday, I had friends bake me a nice roast & veggies along with a made from scratch carrot cake for my b-day. Yummmm! (I didn't ask for the whole meal - all I asked was for my friend to bake me a carrot cake. *lol*)

I actually contemplated carrot cake, just for something different (I usually do chocolate) but for some reason kept having this major craving for strawberries, so went for a strawberry frosted cake instead.
