The cold is coming, the cold is coming! It's supposed to be in the lower thirties tonight and I guess at some point it's supposed to freeze. Of course, being Kansas and fall that doesn't mean much. It could very well be back in the eighties come next week.
But I'm good either way. My biggest concern has been my little stray cat, Sita. My mom is set that no cat will be staying in the garage this winter (and I can't blame her. Last year the small was so bad it was getting in the house). So we set up our old dog house in the front yard between the porch and the shrub. But being the brown, cheap, plastic and rather large thing it is, it's a bit of an eyesore. We've been trying to think of ways of making it, if not blocked from view, then at least less of an eyes sore. Right now we have it hidden behind some rather large Halloween decorations, but obviously that's not going to last. And painting the thing is out of the question since, being plastic, it would only look twice as cheap.
One thing we plan on trying is putting some fencing around it, maybe some lattice or a picket fence, make it look all cute (and make it hard for any stray dogs to attempt to corner the cats), then decorate the fencing.
But of course the result will be the cats not using it at all :P Except I've relocated their food inside so maybe that will entice them to give it a chance. Oh, the things I do for cats, including strays :P
