I know I asked this before but it was a while ago and I don't want to take forever sifting through my posts.
I want to download (legally) some songs and burn them to a CD (Disclaimer: not to sell! So no need to arrest me;)) What site would you recommend to do that? itunes? Amazon? Anywhere else?
I buy music from both iTunes and Amazon. iTunes makes it SUPER easy to burn CDs (you just make a new playlist with the songs you bought, and tell it to burn a CD). So if you don't have another program for making CDs (I assume you mean a music CD that can be played in a CD player, not just a regular CD like you make in any computer with a CD burner), I think iTunes might be easier. But Amazon sells their files in MP3 format (iTunes uses a different format) which means you can play them using a wide variety of music software and MP3 players, while iTunes's files mostly only work in iTunes and Apple-made iPods.
If I were to do it, it would definitely be itunes. I get a CD through library and burn it....... I have never done one where a particular track is selected and burned I need to have my BIL show we how to do that I would love to put a few on one CD like a friend sent me..... It is cool to listen to........
I solely use amazon since I don't like iTunes. I use amazon.de, of course, but I will assume amazon.com works the same. On amazon you download the files as normal MP3s that (as far as I know) you can then do anything with that you want. There's no rights or other restrictions. Although I must say I've never tried to burn them as a normal audio CD. To do so, you need a CD burning software that lets you do that. Amazon has their own downloading tool, but I don't know if it also lets you burn CDs. Don't think so, though, since the files always open in Windows Media Player after they download, so I guess their intention is to make people burn the stuff through Media Player. (I personally would use my burning software, which is Nero Burning ROM, but any other CD burner that does MP3s will do.)
Assuming Amazon works the same in the US as it does in the UK, and that you are on a Windows PC, the Amazon downloader deposits the music straight into your Windows Media Player so its ridiculously easy to burn off a CD.
iTunes is a pain in the backside as far as I'm concerned, if you don't have an iPod etc then I wouldn't bother with it.
I have itunes and love it. You can download music from amazon and have it uploaded to your itunes. It is really easy to burn cds from itunes. Before I buy any music, I compare prices at both amazon and itunes.
