kriadydragon: (Monty Python)
What movie quotes do you find yourself using a lot, whether in your head or out loud?

Mine are:

There is no *insert thing here*, there is only Zuel (Ghost Busters)

That word, I do not think it means what you think it means (The Princess Bride)

Potato, tomato, potato, tomato (Megamind. This one is always getting stuck in my head, I don't know why.)

Come, Patsy! (Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I like to use this one on the pets)

"I am Arthur, King of the Britains."
"King of the who?"
"The Britains"
"Who're the Britains?"
"We all are, we are all Britains, and I am your king."
"Well I didn't vote for you."
"You don't vote for kings!" (Monty Python and the Holy Grail. I can't watch any movie about King Arthur without that popping into my head).

ETA: I totally forgot this one! "Doctor" "Doctor" "Doctor" "Doctor" "Doctor" - Spys Like Us

Would you believe me if I said I have never seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail???

However, I did love Ghost Busters and Princess Bride
Some of the lines in both were classics.
The line where Weaver opens the door to Murray after she has been
'rearranged' by the demon was hilarious.
I forget now what he said but it was classic
Also some of the banter in Princess Bride, 'as you wish' as Westley replied to commands from Buttercup
and speaking of commands, although it is not from a film,
I also love the quote: "Your wish is my command" which Stonewall Jackson used whenever he replied to a message which Robert E. Lee sent him.

"What's behind me, is not important!" Cannonball Run

"I believe, I believe, it's silly, but I believe." Miracle on 34th Street
I love that one so much I had it engraved on my huband's wedding ring.

I have no idea what movie this came from, but I use it frequently,
"Beat me, slash me, call me Irma!"
If anyone knows where it came from, please let me know. I know I've been using it since the early 80's

Aw, Cannonball Run. I loved that show as a kid :D Though it's been so long since I've seen it I don't remember most of it.

"What we have here is a failure to communicate." Turns out it's "What we've got here...." from Cool Hand Luke 1967. I didn't know that before just looking it up.

Also "Beam me up Scotty" I hear every so often at work.

Yeah, I'm not the biggest Trek fan (I like it, watch it, just not all that often) but I'll often use "Darn it, Jim I'm a *insert here* not a *insert here*"

Although my all time favorite is actually from Ace Ventura: Pet Detective - "Darn it, Jim, I'm a doctor not a pool man!" (as well as "If I'm not out in five minutes, just wait longer" from the same movie).

It seems to depend for me on who I'm talking to. My husband and I quote Star Wars a lot, especially "You're not my father!" and "Use the Force, Luke!" There are also quite a few video game references, like "The cake is a lie!" from Portal, and random sci-fi/gamer nerd humor. ("All your base are belong to us" ... does anyone even recognize that one anymore? *g*)

Only they're usually not direct quotes -- it's usually the quote with the main noun dropped out and replaced with whatever is appropriate to the situation. ("The pie is a lie!" ... or whatever.)

And also, "Nooooooo!" from ... just about everything ever. *g*

My sister and I have a lot of quotes from our childhood ... Looney Tunes is a big one, and also random movie and TV references from the 80s and early 90s. (I'm having trouble coming up with good examples off the top of my head, but I know there are a lot of them!) And song lyrics too ...

"The cake is a lie!" from Portal,

I've been wondering where that came from. It's been driving me nuts.

All my favorite video game quotes come from either American McGee's Alice or Clive Barker's Undying. My ultimate favorites that I actually use are "I'm not stupid, don't make me think you are" and "you look more a meal than a man." Man I miss my games, but our computer had an overhaul and it no longer has a game card *tries not to cry.*

Then there's "Oh, no, not the broccoli! Oh no not the cauliflower!" which my family would say all the time but they can never tell me precisely where it came from (my mom says it's from one of the Police Academy movies but I could have sworn they said it was from a movie called Bruce Lee Jr. or something).

My quotes often depend on the situation...I have all these quotes in the back of my head.

My newest one? "It's so fuzzy, I'm gonna die!" and "No annoying Sounds" (Despicable Me)

When arriving at my sister in law's house: "Here I am!" (Zorro, the Gay Blade)

ANYTHING from Young Frankenstein and Princess Bride. Which is hard when your friends have never seen the movie and don't have a clue.

also anything from Farscape...

it was an awesome show...

It's also "It's so fluffy! I'm gonna die!"

Zorro the Gay Blade - heee! :D "The peoples!"

My favorite from Young Frankenstein that I'll sometimes use is "Igor!" "Frodrick." or "Roll, roll, roll in ze hay..."

Well, I'm known for having a sci-fi quote for every occasion, but here's the most frequent:

As a general rule, anything Star Wars, anything from TOS Star Trek or the 4th movie (aka the one with the whales), most Joss Whedon stuff, and Doctor Who.

The ones I've been using recently are the one from Princess Bride that you mentioned, "I've got a ____, ____s are cool!" from Doctor Who, the lines from the "Beer Bad" episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, "OH HAI" line from The Room, "What a crazy random happenstance!" from Dr. Horrible, and that's all I can think of at this time of night.

Date: 2011-12-09 08:07 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Heee, yes, "the one with the whales." That's what I always call it, too, even though I finally know the actual name. My favorite from that is "Remember where we parked" and "he did a little LDS in the seventies." (or something, may be misquoted since it's been a while).

Date: 2011-12-09 07:19 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ninja007.livejournal.com
"There can be only one!!"

"Can I get a HELL YEAH???"

"My eyes are better than 20/20 and they're BLUE!" (not really)

Date: 2011-12-09 12:36 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] tari-roo.livejournal.com
Oh Princess Bride gets quoted a lot:
'Anyone want a peanut?'
'As you wish....'
'Tru blave'

But my go to's most days are:
'I'll be back'
'It wasn't me, it was the one armed man!' - both the Fugitive version and Jim Carrey's
'There is no try'
'Don't mention the war!' - ok, that's a Fawlty Towers one, but its amazing how often I use it :)

'It wasn't me, it was the one armed man!' - both the Fugitive version and Jim Carrey's

OMG yes! I'm always using that one. I knew there were a few quotes I forgot.

Date: 2011-12-09 01:28 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] padawan-aneiki.livejournal.com
"Hello! My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father; prepare to die!"

"Do, or do not. There is no try."

"Bring out your dead!" "But I'm not dead, yet." (always quoted with the English accent)

"What's in the box? Nothing, absolutely nothing!" (*wonders if ANYBODY will guess that one)

"It's aliiiiiive!" (Stripes! version)

"The Force is with you, young Skywalker...but you are not a Jedi, yet."

;)

Date: 2011-12-10 07:23 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ninja007.livejournal.com
LOL!

"I'm not dead yet!"

"I'm feeling better!"

Date: 2011-12-09 03:58 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] radioshack84.livejournal.com
My sister and I quote Home Alone ALL the time. Seriously, there's probably not a line from the first movie that we haven't used in some situation...not sure what that says about us. LOL

Some of my other favorites:

"...and besides, I still owe you from the thing with the guy in the place and I'll never forget it." (Ocean's Eleven)

"Look, he's landed on his head!" (Where The Money Is)

"I don't want to get into a semantical argument, I just want the protein, okay?" (Grosse Pointe Blank)

"Let's shampoo us some aliens!" (Evolution)

"You need to find a highly-qualified psychiatrist, not a psychologist, you're gonna need some drugs." (Joyride)

And I need not re-post The Princess Bride quotes. :)

Date: 2011-12-09 07:46 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] kriadydragon.livejournal.com
Oh, Evolution! I'll occasionally spout of "Mozzletoff, it's a boy!" from that one (and, yes, I know I spelled mozzletoff wrong, because I can't for the life of me recall how to spell it).

Any quotes from the Princess Bride, or Megamind, are high on my list of favorites. The line from The Incredibles--"That was totally wicked!"--tends to get used a lot, too. Around our house we quote a lot of Gilbert and Sullivan (Pirates of Penzance/The Mikado)--for some reason we often like to sing their songs while doing dishes or working the kitchen. :D

Beetlejuice!

"I, myself, am strange and unusual."

Pirates of the Caribbean!!

"I blame the fish people."

"Dearly Beloved, we be gathered here today... [is set upon by a fish-person, who he kicks in the face]
... to nail yer gizzard to the mast, yer poxy cur!"

Will Turner: You cheated.
Jack Sparrow: Pirate.

I told you I was going back through your old posts (I might have missed something important! :))
A hospital? What is it? A big building where sick people go!
Surely you can't be serious? I am and don't call me Shirley!

And many more lines from that classic...Flying High (you call it airplane :))
