And our New year's decided to start off by being as irritating as possible. Not only has the truck broken down (as in will not start) but the car has been making funny noises. So we're down to one car and to get both fixed is probably going to leave us flat broke. Yeah, another one of those months. And here I thought we were past all that what with the dogs pretty much healthy and us being down to one horse.

But better January when nothing much is going on than, say, December or the summer.

I also apologize for the whining but it was just so out of the blue that it wreaks of irony. Oh well. New Years itself was fun. We had homemade sandwiches and watched The Help - which I so very highly recommend if you haven't seen it. Then had more sandwiches and soup the next day. And today we finally went out to eat at this restaurant I've been wanting to go to, so it was nice to be able to do that before we ended up completely out of money *shakes fists at cars*

I don't really have any goals this year since A: I've never been one to set goals and B: those few times I do the universe seems bent on making sure those goals never see fruition. I'm more a "make decisions as I go" type. The only goal I'm willing to make since it's as much inevitable as anything can get is to finish my current original fic. After that, I'm either going to start work on book two of the first original fic or start a whole new original. I would also like to find a literary agent if at all possible.

That said, just to give everyone a heads up, it may be some time before I write any fanfiction. The current original as kidnapped my brain and will not let it go, and unless a fanfic knocks me upside the head with demands of "I will be written, nao!" then you probably won't be seeing much fanfic from me. I apologize for this, but rest assured that the original will be done either later this month or next month. it's been moving along pretty quickly and I'm now entering the latter half of the story. So unlike the last story this one isn't going to take a flippin' eternity to finish.

I am really hoping for (good) interesting things to happen this year. I'm not sure what, exactly, just something. We might go out to Utah if we can find someone to take care of the animals. Barring that, it would be nice to at least get something published in a magazine. I have a short story all ready, I just need to find somewhere to submit it.

Finally, woo-hoo! White Collar starts up again this month! and later on The Walking Dead, and Dr. Who!

Have you been watching Hell On Wheels??
Cullen Bohannon has been making mincemeat of some ornery people . . .
:D

That show hasn't really caught my interest.

Oh that's too bad because as it has progressed it has just gotten better
I really love Bohannon....and the last episode and this one he has
shown by action and verbally what he is all about.....to a certain degree though
as he is a somewhat private individual, not very verbal at times.

Oh, shucks, that stinks about your truck. :/ But I'm glad you had a good time celebrating the New Year.

I totally understand about original stuff taking precedence. I'm pretty much at the same place right now, except I keep taking little breaks to work on fanfic when I start to feel overwhelmed by my original story and just need to write something the comes easy--or at least easier. ^^ So, while I hope we do get to see more fic from you soon, I also wish you well in getting your original stuff hammered out (and that you find a literary agent, too).

This month is trying to be one full of financial issues. First the truck, then the car, then my sister's tuition and I still need to order my contacts. I swear we always have a month like this where a whole bunch of stuff comes at us at once, sucking our pockets dry. It's very frustrating.

I wish I could bring myself to take a break from this story and work on something else for a bit - I'm starting to get to that point where I just want the story to be over - but I worry about setting the story aside and not getting back into it for weeks or even months. I'm close to the end, and that's usually when my motivation is hanging by a thread and I'm looking for reasons not to write at all. So I feel like if I stop now and focus on something else, even for a little bit, it will take me forever to focus back on the story.

Mmm. Yeah, I can understand that. Plus, when you set something aside, you always run the risk of not being where you need to be emotionally when you return to pick it back up again.

I hope you can keep up the stamina required to finish it!
