I'm doooooooone! My current original story is doooooone! (the, er, single story, not the trilogy)
And yet, it makes me sad, because I already miss writing these characters. It was one of those kidly stories that was nothing but cooperative from the start, with the characters practically fleshing themselves out. And I ended up loving them to bits. Thing is, this is a one time story - no sequels and no series. So, yeah, that's all she wrote for these characters.
But it goes to show me the benefit of letting story ideas percolate for a while, and to write outlines, and to hash out troublesome scenes by working them out on paper rather than just in my head.
It also goes to show me that I need to trust my instincts. I was hesitant to write this story because the main protagonists are an eleven year old girl and a thirty-year old man, and I fretted endlessly about making this friendship work without it coming off as skeevy in any way. But when I started writing it all just sort of figured itself out, and I had nothing but good feelings about it throughout.
And now I'm free to finally write some promised fanfic!
My next project I plan to start sometime in the summer. I want to get going on book two of the other original, as well as figure out which non-trilogy book to write next. I have one idea I keep setting aside endlessly, so maybe it's high time I write the poor thing. It's pretty much ready except for the end.
