1. I'm giving up on contacts and going back to glasses. I can't take it any more. I'm wearing the fancy kind and they're still driving my eyes crazy.

2. Suits. Wow, now that was a premiere I didn't see coming. Holy cow, now both Harvey and Jessica know - big boss Jessica! There's a new enemy and finally, finally Harvey's teachings are starting to rub off on Mike. And Harvey was totally going to walk out if Mike was forced to leave! So many hearts for this! Oh, Harvey, quit acting like you don't care, everyone and their mother knows you care *cuddles Harvey and Mike*. And Rachel is still annoying.

One thing that really fascinated me with this ep was Mike's case between the publisher and the would-be author. Because obviously the show was leading us into a false sense of pity for the would-be author, only to have us feel less sorry for her later on. But right off the bat she annoyed the crap out of me because, really, you don't go pitching your ideas in detail to other people, let alone someone in the publishing industry. I can't speak for other writers but speaking for myself, keeping your ideas safe and sound and secret is my number one rule. You don't go blabbing your ideas to all and sundry. You write the story, you get close friends and relatives to read the story and stand as witnesses that you did write it and when you wrote it, then you tread very, very carefully when getting published.

Plus, yes, there is no such thing as original and I adored so much that Mike pointed this out. Because that was my first thought - why does this girl think she's so entitled when her idea has probably already been done?

3. And on that note, I've been dithering as to whether or not to post the first couple of chapters of my current original fic... either under friends lock or my writing filter. Yes, I know, sounds rather hypocritical considering the above rant but A) it's not like I'm posting a detailed description of the story and B) good luck to anyone wanting to steal it because it's rather complicated. As protective as I am of my ideas, I would also really like an opinion as to whether the beginning - and the main character - work; if they catch and hold your interest or not, that kind of thing (there's actually two main characters, but one character doesn't enter the scene until later and I'm rather iffy about posting those chapters since it contains a rather crucial aspect of the story that I am paranoid about presenting to the public eye).

Would anyone be interested in giving the chapters a read? In which case, if you aren't already on my writer filter list, I'll just add you.

I don't know if I am on your filter already, but I would be interested in that. :)

About the creativity/originality thing - oh, man, yeah! It always amazes me how some people will talk very openly about the novel(s) they're working on, post chunks of them, give regular status reports, etc. Clearly these people are much less paranoid than I am. *g*

I did try the posting-as-I-go thing with two of mine (as I think you know!) and gave up because I just don't work that way. I am INCREDIBLY close-mouthed about projects I'm working on; it's partly a sort of semi-superstitious fear that talking about something unpublished will cause other people to snaffle my ideas, and partly just that it's how my creative brain works -- things are in a constant state of flux when I'm working on them, and I change them as I go, which makes it too weird for me to post things that aren't finished.

Anyway, yes, I would be interested in reading it. :)

Argh! Why are my replies always being eaten! I am so tired of losing my replies!

Sorry. This keeps happening to me, especially with my somewhat longer replies and it's making me want to punch my laptop. Anyway...

Yes! This is very much me as well, and I swear there's a correlation between me talking about projects and those projects never getting finished - ever. Thus my dithering, even though the story is written and on its second draft. But, still, I would really like to get some feedback while I'm still early into the editing project. The beginning is where it counts and I really don't want a repeat of my last story.

I agree...fanfiction is one thing, but I never put anything of my original stuff in the net. That's mine, and mine alone!

Sure--I'd gladly give it a look.

I would absolutely be interested in giving the chapters a read, if you are still looking for people.

Yes, very much still need opinions :D I'll add you to the writing filter. The first two chapters are already posted - just click on the "fiction related stuff" tag and look for The Toymaker. Which won't be hard since they'll be the first two posts. I plan on posting the third chapter this weekend.

Okay, I guess people have to be friended to get on the filter. I hope that's okay (I'm not sure why it wouldn't be but some people can be particular about it, I guess? I don't know. People in general make me paranoid. I always feel like I have to ask for permission or alert everyone to everything).
