kriadydragon: (Reaper thinking)
Pilgrim Soul had asked for some advice on how to better ones writing skills and it got me thinking about starting a community based souly on writing. In this community, people could post writing advice, writing exercises that have helped them, little things like the proper use of colons and semi-colons, commas, elipses, etc (if you know the rules), have discussions about writing, ask writing questions, and even post links to sites related to writing and bettering ones writing skills.

What do you all think? Would this be something useful to have around or nothing more than clutter? Or is there something like this already out there?

That sounds cool - the only thing I've seen at all like that here on lj is [livejournal.com profile] synecdochic's entries on writing.

Sounds good.

I'm not a writer but I would interested in watching this type of community. It would be a great way to see how writers work and get some helpful hints on the mechanics of writing. Who know, maybe I wouldn't be so embarrassed to write out my ideas.

This sounds really cool. I'd totally join something like this.

I love the idea! I'm always looking for tips and having one place to go would be wonderful.

There can never be too much talk about writing! I find that just finding people to talk about writing with makes my muse excited and improves her mood considerably ;-)

I think that's a fantastic idea. I'd certainly like somewhere to lay out the odd problem and get some feedback.

I just spent about 15 minutes scrolling through the various communities with 'writing' and 'creative writing' listed as interests, and I couldn't find anything updated within the last year that was about writing rather than being merely somewhere to dump stories. So I don't think a community like you describe would be duplicating anything already existing here on lj.

I'd be willing to mod or co-mod it - I tend to spend my spare time either writing or reading about writing anyway.
